Windowsill Whimsy

Sometimes, an object that makes one think of childhood, also brings a smile.

A case in point is the little nick knack of a sleepy headed girl with her dolly.  As a kid, I was rarely photographed without a doll in my arms.  Yes, I slept with my dollies, too, and spent untold numbers of hours playing with them.

Even as an adult, dolls absolutely bring joy and there's a very large collection of them around here.

So one day, while perusing a, guess what? --- thrift store,  this sleepy headed darling squeezed my heart. It made me think of me as a kid---sleepy and happy, with my pooped out dolly on my right arm.

She is only three inches high but her small stature is sure to bring a lot of  happiness right into my heart every time I see her. That's pretty often, too, because she stands on a kitchen windowsill.

Nearby her is a little gold votive candle holder with some rose stems in it. On the side of the holder is a two-inch kitty cat. Now he wasn't a thrift shop find. Actually, I bought him at a crafts store. He hooks right on to the side of any holder he is put on.

Admittedly, his facial expression looks a little crazed but I still like this mini feline. Can you imagine how tiny his  "meow" would be, if he could "speak?"

Love the little figurine holding her doll. I'm a doll lover too. Back in the day I made porcelain dolls but haven't had an opportunity to do that recently.Have a good week-end!

Such a sweet little figurine and only three inches high! Both my boys actually had baby dolls when they were little. A big baby doll that they carried everywhere with them. Can you believe that some folks would make fun? I mean come on, a 1 or 2 year old boy or girl, is allowed to have something to love besides mommy and daddy, right! ??? That kitty sure does look a little wild-eyed in the last photo. :/ I bet he would have one of those crazy meows. :) Have a fabulous Friday! Tammy

That little girl has so much emotion in her face and pose. The artist did a really good job of getting a lot of feeling in such a small package. Adorable! :O)
