TUESDAY: Baby Shower Extravaganza

WARNING:  Do not read the following post if you are hungry. If you do, you could end up attacking your refrigerator by the post's end.

This past weekend, I was privileged to attend a Baby Shower "Par Excellance."

From decorations and ambiance, to friendly people and fun, memory-making moments, it was a gala.  To borrow a line from the musical Oliver, there was "food, glorious food,"  the likes of which I never saw before and probably never will again.

This was going to be a shower with "appetizers and dessert."  So were there both?  Oh yeah. Oh yeah.  Here's a sampling:

Fabulous green salad and a huge veggie tray----these were  good things:

Cantaloupe, strawberry, and green grape fruit cup with white grape and orange juice sweetening and this, too, was a good thing to have at the shower:

Little appetizers with cheese, roasted red pepper, and a long list of other ingredients:

Cheese, cracker, and pepperoni tray:

Ginger chicken wings and Lebanese "pizzas" (called something like fatayer):

Lebanese meat "pies" and dough triangles with a lemony spinach filling:

Hot Buffalo wing dip and cold tomato/feta cheese dip:

Chips and onion dip:

Hot artichoke dip and crab thingamjigs:

Strawberry sour cream salad and chocolate dipped strawberries:

Lebanese chick pea dip (hummus) and an eggplant dip (babaganoosh.):

Okay, are you still on board?  Here come the desserts:

Baby's cake, of course, which was just darling:

Cupcakes showing tiny babies and yellow rubber duckies the size of your thumbnail in the tubbie:

Homemade caramel corn and nut-filled brownies:

Coffee cake and pumpkin muffins:

Raspberry squares and chocolate croissants (plain, too) from Williams and Sonoma:

Chocolate chip cookies and chocolate covered cookies with colored sprinkles:

Homemade pecan pie and sweet potato pie:

Last, but not least, homemade baklava, filled with crunchy nuts and soaked with luscious honey.

Can you imagine the little one, in the future, reading all about the baby shower extravaganza that was held in his honor? Woo hoo.

Without a doubt, in my two and a half years of blogging, this post has the MOST photos I've ever used. It's just that it was important not to just "say" it was a baby shower extravaganza.  I wanted to show you!

For those of you who are interested in baby showers, stay tuned. Tomorrow, I'm going to share decorations and floral arrangements at the shower!

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A BABY SHOWER EXTRAVAGANZA?

But the cake is so cute!
I must hear more about those raspberry squares :)
Did they let you take a doggie bag?
I am checking out your eBay items now...:)

Wow! That is some baby shower! Food glorious food is so right! How many were in attendance? Fatayer, of course, is a favorite around here -- the kids like to eat the meat ones with yogurt. I prefer the sabaneq (spinach) especially when it is very lemony and jibnah (cheese) with the salty pickles they make here along with a nice cup of hot tea. I can't wait to see what the decorations look like! Have a great day. Tammy

Oh my gosh that food looked good enough to eat - and that cake was PRECIOUS. I LOVE Winnie the Pooh Bear. Well your party looked as good as my retirement party for my friend was. No baby shower like that though. I love Lebanese food - it has some of my very favorites. You weren't kidding when you said it was a big wonderful blow out!

Oh my! The food looks amazing! It's a wonder attendees have to eat anything at all this week. :) I have never been to any shower with that much food, but I am game to try sometime!
