Moment of Solitude
Sometimes we need to just stop.
Stop the noise.
Stop the thoughts that run around inside our minds at a furious pace.
Stop the "to do" lists.
Stop the cleaning.
Stop the planning.
Stop the shopping.
Stop the perpetual motion.
Yesterday afternoon, after running around doing errands, I took a solitary moment to look at this naturally peaceful scene.
Driving the car off to the side of the road, the lake looked calm and serene, just like I wanted to feel.
The afternoon sun was on its slow descent to nighttime.
There were no birds, no people, no boats, no waves. Just quiet and it was good.
On this Sunday, I hope you have many happy moments and even a few surprises that will put a smile on your face.
May you find deep peace and also a few moments for quiet reflection.
WHERE DO YOU GO WHEN YOU WANT TO BE ALONE?

Nothing has been the same since hubby retired and I really don't know where I go to be alone anymore...have not found an alone place.
I can tell you a crazy alone space when I was raising kids though. I would take them to school and then drive through Hardees, get a bacon and cheese biscuit, drive straight to the automatic car wash and drive in. For a few, very few number of mintues, I treated myself to breakfast and the drowning noise of water raining over the car, blinding my windows for views in or out. No one knew where I was nor could even approach a window. It was all over fast and then I returned to chores, errands, ringing phone, and doorbell. Ah but those few mintues....!!!!!!
A nice hot bubble bath and quiet reflection after that in my lovely green chair in my bedroom...with a great book to read..AH Sublime!
I don't have to go far :) Usually I just have to make the choice to be still. Of course, serene views such as you enjoyed ALWAYS are welcome, but I can be just as "alone" in my wingback recliner...I DO love solitude.
Oh the things you can hear and see when you get still. It is difficult though in a noisy house where someone is always talking or TV is blaring. I have always treasured early morning, my quiet time.
I retreat to my room a lot to be alone. I read and watch TV sometimes. I also love to drive to the park near by and just enjoy the view, it is very refreshing. hugs, Linda
Love the view! Very calming. I am very very lucky and ever since I became an empty nester and my husband still works, my home is my sanctuary. I work part time and so each afternoon is my own. I just sit in my spot on my couch, sip my tea and relax. Perfect. Kit
I would prefer to be at home alone sometimes but no one ever wants to leave me. My quiet time usually only happens after everyone goes to bed. Or early Saturday morning when hubby has gone off to work and the kids are still sleeping. Hope you are having a quiet, reflective day today. Best wishes, Tammy
In the summer, our dock is my "alone" place. I love to listen to the water lap the beach, and hear the gulls fly overhead crying out their lonely songs.
In winter, it's my over-sized chair next to the fire. I can sit, and just bask in the glory of God for as long as I want.
I love this post. I've been feeling these same feelings lately. Wanting to slow down, and just breath in creation.
Enjoy your day.

I love it when I can sleep later on a Saturday. Then, I grab my notebook and Bible and stay there as long as my little heart desires with no interruption.
I'm kind of like Bookie - it is hard to get some time alone - I do spend time right before bed to lay there and think and pray. sandie
