When someone does something nice for you, how does it make you feel?
Naturally, a great thing to do is to pass on the kindness. Then, you will be responsible for making someone else feel happy! How cool would that be?
Do you know who Joel Osteen is? Well, if you don't, he's an Evangelical pastor from Lakewood Church in Texas which has the largest congregation in the entire United States. (Last I read it was 45,000 people!)
Ordinarily, I would switch the tv channel if a preacher came on since television preaching is not particularly my "cup of tea." But Joel is different. He's kind and sweet and tremendously inspirational.
He has written several books, the latest of which is "Every Day a Friday."
Speaking with two of my sisters, I mentioned how much I would like to borrow a copy of Joel's new book once they were finished reading their copies.
Wouldn't you know it, when I came home one day this week, there was a brown package from Barnes and Noble sticking up out of the mailbox.
Since I had not ordered a book, I wondered what it could be. Inside, I ripped it open and it was my own copy of "Every Day a Friday."
One of my sisters decided I needed my own, personal hard copy.
She sure made THAT day a Friday. It was so generous and sweet of her to think of me and it wasn't even Christmas or my birthday!
Then, a dear fellow blogger, Sandie, from Chatty Crone, just about sent me over the edge when she mailed me a package from Georgia.
It contained a gorgeous glass green ring with gold sparkles, (shown above), and this beautiful bracelet, pictured below.
How I love both of them. Again, it was not for my birthday. It was a "just because" gift.
What a little Georgia peach Sandie is.
Gifts like these, given for no particular reason, are like little bolts of sunshine in the heart.
DO YOU EVER GIVE GIFTS FOR NO PARTICULAR OCCASION?

It was your lucky day. sandie is a peach! Her blogoverflows with things that will make you smile or laugh out loud.
I have heard of Joel Osteen. Sounds like a good book. You'll have to share some of his insight with us. I love giving gifts just because. One of the blogs I receive emails from had a post the other day about always having cookies on hand to gift to visitors, friends or anyone you meet along the way each and every day. I think that is a great idea. So today I made some coconut cookies, a recipe shared by a blogger in Australia, and will be sharing them tomorrow. :) Happy day to you, Tammy P.S. I love that green ring!
Sounds like your mailbox has been a busy place this month! What a great way to spend January, getting presents in the mail.
Have a good weekend ahead...
You have such a beautiful blog! This post is so lovely and so true. When I was still working, I loved to leave "tiny gifts" on coworkers desks, a fresh muffin I picked up on the way to work, a cookie wrapped in paper, an orange, etc. matched to the "favorite love" of that particualr coworker. My favorite, just because gift was sending my mom flowers on my birthday the year I was pregnant with my first child. She already knew I was pregnant so it was not an announcement, but the card said, "Thank you mom for giving me life, so I could have this day of knowing I am going to be a mother too". How blessed you are by the brand new book and the stunning ring and bracelet. I so love that ring. Thank you for visiting me and giving me such a big happy smile with your post today. I will be back!
I love that Sandie...she is generous and kind! I am so glad to call her friend! I've heard Joel Ornstein and I like that he is positive and uplifting...something we all need more of. I love to give gifts for no reason. If I see a little something someone would like I just can't help it. I know giving makes me very happy! Hugs to you! Linda
How nice! You are very fortunate to have so many special people in your life. Thank you for stopping by my blog and for your nice comments about my art!:)

Oh how lovely! Doesn't that feel great!? Recently I was in the super market and saw Primroses, had to buy some and bought one as a surprise for my co-worker for her desk. She was pleasantly surprised! Feels so good. Kit
Lucky Lady, what nice gifts! I have heard Joel Osteen on TV, he's a great speaker.
Aren't sisters the greatest?
Lucky Lady indeed! Enjoy your gifts..
Hey girl - that camera of yours makes those gifts looks like diamonds. Wish they were - because you are a diamond yourself and I think all your blog followers and friends feel the same!
Love, sandie
I LOVE Joel! I get his daily devotions in my email everyday. I also watch him every Sunday at 10 am my time. Wow, what beautiful gifts! I have never seen a ring like that before, it's beautiful.
