The Angel and the Hummingbird

This past Christmas, two of my favorite gifts were no taller than two inches high.

Instead of being packed away in the attic, they are getting to stay out all year. One of the reasons is they remind me of my Mom and Dad, both of whom are no longer here on earth.

Previously on this blog, I've shared that my father used to love hummingbirds.  One year, after he died, a hummer made a tiny, walnut-sized nest in a ficus tree on our side porch.

The little bird came to the patio door and flitted its tiny wings a million miles a minute.  I was mesmerized and then looked at the calendar. It was the anniversary of my father's death!

One of my sisters gave me a glass hummingbird as one of my Christmas presents. It's  tiny and so beautiful.

Then, a dear niece gifted me with an itsy bitsy angel.

Maybe she's symbolic of my Mom!  Mummy loved to read and sing .

The little angel holds a minute book.  Could it be a singing book?

Or is it one of Mummy's favorite movie star biographies?

Her blue wings sparkle with diamond-like sprinkles and there are even tiny gold stars on her dress.

So, little angel and darling hummer sit side-by-side on one of the kitchen windowsills.  They make me smile every time I look at them.

P.S.  See the beautiful Valentine graphic at the top of my sidebar?  That is one of Mo's fabulous graphic designs. Her blog is Rose Petals from Heaven.

There's also a button for Eva Aston's art. Click it and it will take you to enchanting paintings. Some you can even order as cards!

DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT REMINDS YOU OF A LOVED ONE WHO HAS DIED?

How sweet. What nice reminders of your parents. My Grandma's desk sits on the stairway landing. I pass it everyday. Gives me a warm feeling each morning.

I know how close you are to your memories of your parents - you are like that! Those were very nice. I have so many things that remind me of my mother - come to think of it I don't have much around her that remind me of my father. sandie
