Just for the JOY of It!

Some things in life should be done just for the sheer joy of doing them.

The same can be said for seeing some things. Look at them just for the joy they bring to your eyes, like the roses shown at the top of this post.

Babies bring immense joy to almost everyone----parents, siblings, grandparents, aunties and uncles, cousins, and friends and neighbors!

(This is actually a photo taken of a decorative plate.)

For me, singing brings great joy.  Recently, after seeing an announcement in a newspaper of a new singing group starting,  I was in.

Folk, pop, and show tunes would be sung. Wow!  That really got my attention.

After eagerly waiting several weeks for the chorus to start, last night was it.  About 15 people showed up and we began singing almost immediately. The director played fabulously on the piano.

It was everything I'd hope it would be.  Being in a concert for the public holds zero interest for me. The only reason the new chorus appeals is because it will bring great joy to sing once again with others in a group.

We sang choruses of "Blue Moon," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Bye Bye Blackbird,"  "Bye Bye Love," "Luck Be a Lady Tonight,"  "Oh What a Beautiful Mornin',"  "Swinging on a Star," and so forth.

The tune that almost got me teary-eyed was "All of Me."

Now, my Mom also loved music and played the piano with all her heart and soul.  Not only that, she'd sing while she played.

One of her favorite songs to play and sing was "All of Me."  I can see her still on the piano bench, glasses perched on the tip of her nose, chin up in the air, and her voice booming out all the verses----"All of me, why not take all of me?  Can't you see, I'm no good without you" and on and on.

Oh, Mummy must have been looking down last night, pleased as punch that I wanted to join that chorus for sheer joy.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU DO THAT BRINGS SHEER JOY TO YOURSELF?

A singing group! WOW what fun and I can tell you are just thrilled. My 83 year old day just joined the choir at his retirement home and LOVES it. My sisters and I were so surprised! We have never heard him sing anything in his whole life! You are never too old.
Have fun with this.
JOY, hummm....too many to list-tea with friends, bible study with the ladies, dinner with hubby, time with my grown daughter, gardening, my home. Your blog makes me realize how much JOY is in my life.

Hi Susan, I'm glad to hear you've found that singing group. It's nice to sing in a group of others. I once was a part of a gospel choir and I loved it. I do miss it at times. Have a lovely day my friend!

I am so thrilled for you! I too sing and I love the feeling it gives me. Yes, she was indeed looking down on you and saying, Sing Out! Sheer joy for me comes in the way of paying it forward when ever I can. I just love being the person who is not a pain in the arse. :) Kit
