The Moon Belongs to Everyone!

Remember the words to this popular old-time song?

"The moon belongs to everyone, the best things in life are free..."

There really are so many wonderful things in life that truly are free.

Coming home after dark the other night, I drove the car into the driveway of our home.  Like so many other nights, I hardly gave a glimpse to the night sky. Sad but true.

But somehow, on this night, my eyes looked up and the moon looked like a gigantic silver dollar in the sky!

Gasping with utter delight, I called out to my husband,

"Honey, look at that moon. Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?"

We just stood there in the front yard, looking up through a maze of tree branches, at the fabulous moon.

This is one time I wish I had a more expensive camera because the photo does not do justice to the moon we saw that night. Hope you can at least get an idea of how pretty it was.

It made me think of so many things that have been written about the moon.  Who could ever forget the song "Moon River?" from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's?

How about a chorus of "Fly me to the moon, let me sing among those stars?"

Baby boomers, what about your earliest childhood memory, when you were a mere babe, of Kate Smith singing "And the moon went over the mountain?"

Haven't you ever told a little child, "I love you to the moon and back?"

Who, as a child, remembers being told that the moon is made out of green cheese?
Not regular old cheddar or Swiss but green!

Yeah, all those memories just from looking at that big, fat, incredible silver dollar in the night sky!

Just for the record, you kids of all ages who are reading this, I have eight words just for you:

"I love you to the moon and back!"

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR RECOLLECTIONS OF THE MOON?

This sweet post reminds me of when my granddaughter was a baby. She pointed to the street light and shouted excitedly, "Moon!"

By the light of the moon. Sometimes it's so bright, our bedroom is illuminated as if it were daytime.
When my oldest daughter was very little she would point at it and say...moom!

My best memory of the moon is seeing the astronauts landing there...it was the highlight of my life at the time...go USA. The moon was gorgeous last night in Ca. too! My whole house was lit by it. I thought I left a light on..ha.

The moon used to be right outside my balcony window but now it is on the other side of our building so I haven't noticed it at all since I am never out at night. Jan from Summer Sundays kept asking me if I had seen it. And then my blogging friend Linda posted this that you should check out. Her photos are beautiful.

So I did go out and look up but the moon was covered up by dark clouds and the battery in our good camera died so I am charging it now and hopefully can get a good picture later on. Since it is past midnite, I think I really should get to bed . Best wishes, Tammy
