Today we are joining Thrifty Things Friday on Diann's blog, The Thrifty Groove and Show and Tell Friday on Cindy's blog, My Romantic Home.

Both of these blogs are terrific and if you go to both of them, you will find many awesome things to look at!

Honestly, really attractive and unique objects for the home can be found for very little money.

Thanks to thift store and yard and estate sale purchases, it has been possible to decorate my own home on a very low budget.

Because I love the old-fashioned look of crocheted doilies, table runners, and so on,  I'm always on the lookout for them.

Can you imagine how thrilling it was to find this crocheted piece that even had "roses" in my favorite color, pink?

It's perfect for the kitchen or dining room tables!  Add a couple of candles in pretty holders and voila!  Instant beauty-on-the-cheap!

Shown at the top of this post and down below, the pink painted roses on slate belonged to a sister of mine. While helping her clean out her basement, she told me to toss it.

It may have been a "practice" piece as she is a painter but I really don't know. The initials on it are not hers.

However, I refrained from dumping the rose-covered slate and brought it home.

My hubs attached metal pieces that allowed me to hang it so outside to the porch it went. That's where it is now, awaiting the "real" roses of spring.

The crocheted table runner cost less than $5 and the rose-covered slate was free---not bad for two lovely additions to the home.

WHAT IS THE LAST BARGAIN YOU FOUND and  BOUGHT?

I had some pillow cases that were crocheted by my husband's grandmother and they are still in my closet. We don't have double beds at my house...only King size ones...but I love the cases. Your things are very pretty too.

Your table runner is gorgeous. I can't believe your sister wanted to toss that beautiful rose painting!! I am glad you rescued it from its demise. Tell her it is really beautiful! Not everyone has the talent to paint beautiful roses, I know I sure don't.

I have set of dish towels with the days of the week crocheted on each, made by the Amish ladies. Never use them, just like them.

Hey Susan

We must be kindred spirits - love all things vintage. Add in some roses and I'm in heaven.

I found my new book shelf that I posted a few days ago.

That is a gorgeous tablerunner. And the painted slate is so very pretty too. I wouldn't have been able to throw it out either. Looks great on your porch. Hope you are having a fab Friday. Tammy

Well I love your table runner - I think of how much time it took some one to make it! And the rose art work - I love that. One person's junk is another persons treasure.

Love, sandie

Wow, that rose on the slate is a stunning find and it looks beautiful on your outside wall. Iv'e seen a sophisticated modern french style bedroom with fine crocheted doilies in many square white frames above the bed and it looks absolutely beautiful and feminine.
I've only just started crocheting squares and the first thing I did was an orange cell phone cover for my mom's Tracfone LG800G touch screen smart phone ($49.99). Because the phone has a big screen you don't want to scratch or shatter.
The orange cover has little pink crocheted roses on it and I embroidered, love you mom, on it.
Well the gift really sent the message home to my mom that I love her despite all our regular fights and squabbles we have.
