"Mystery " Flowers Welcome Spring

Every spring, just as the weather starts to get a tiny bit warmer in New England, the flowers shown in this post jut out from the earth.

One day they are underground and the next they are out.

They make me smile every year when they break out from the earth and push their way up through the gravel at the end of our driveway.

What hardy little flowers they are. Imagine popping up through a layer of stones.

It's like they are saying, "Hello world. We're coming out from the dark earth again and nothing is going to stop us."

Does anyone know the name of these flowers?  They are so pretty.

Their delicate lavender blossoms just do my heart good.

Guess I like their spunk, too.

DO YOU HAVE FLOWERS BLOOMING IN YOUR YARD NOW? WHAT ARE THEY?

I have a similar type of flower in my yard in the front blooming right now. I think it is a type of Iris but I'm not at all sure. Aren't they pretty?

Hi Susan,
Beautiful flowers, I love the color. Not sure what these are called though.
Have a lovely Day!

They're called Early Snow Glories. I have them too. They come in a range of shades. I love my blue ones. In the garden they spread quickly and eventually make like a little blanket. Enjoy them!

Early snow glories - what a pretty name. I don't have those in my yard. Amazing how they do that - on our way home in the mountains - we saw trees growing right through the stone.
