Birthday Afternoon

Yesterday,  there was a birthday party for a four-year-old fashion diva.

She's the daughter of one of my niece's and she's a first class doll. I love her so much!

It was a perfect day for a party. The sun shone down brightly and it wasn't too hot.

The lunch was delicious, too----cheeseburgers, hot dogs, barbecue chicken, corn-on-the-cob, and a huge salad with fat brown-sugar-glazed pecan halves, cranberries, feta cheese, and a lip-smacking poppy seed and balsamic vinegar dressing. Mmm mmm mmm

The birthday girl loved all the outfits she received, including sandals with sparkling decorations. She loves to have fashion parades and change clothes several times a day.

The large above ground pool had just been opened. Let me tell you, it was nippy.  I stuck my toe in and shivered.

There was only one way to tackle that pool and that was to jump in all at once. That's what I did, to the delight of all the little kids.

Talk about FREEZING. Woo hoo. After a few minutes, though, with the sun blazing down, it felt quite comfortable.

Days like yesterday are among life's special moments and it's kind of nostalgic to see them end.

WHAT WAS ONE FUN THING YOU DID THIS PAST WEEKEND?

Lovely post Susan,
I didn't do that much this weekend, except from some painting :)
Have a lovely day!

We had LOTSA fun this weekend - drove to neighboring town and garage-saled it up! Last night we hosted our small group from church in our yard. It was just a wonderful evening. Weather-wise & friendship & food....

Susan, can you get that recipe for the salad (or at least the dressing? It sounds yummy.

And good for you - jumping into that pool! :)

This week we attended a breakfast buffet where all pitched in. I was asked to bring grits! I have never done grits before...made Paula Deen's Baked Cheese Grits. I also took stuffed mushrooms. Both were hits! Nice to visit with everyone and so much good food that DH and I did not eat again until evening.

A little early for a pool party but it should warm up soon.

Didn't do anything this weekend but rest, read and watch a little tv. However it was great to be home! That pool looked really cold...whew..good for you for jumping right in.

My Sunday looked a lot like yours...it was spent by the pool with my daughter, her friend, and some of my in-laws. Looking forward to a repeat of the fun this weekend as we celebrate Memorial Day!

My Sister In Law came over to visit Mom and I. It was great to spend some time with her! The pool looks great even if it is cold! Hugs, Linda

Our "fun" this week-end was having our newly-married daughter and her husband come for supper on Sunday. They live about an hour away, so we don't see one another often.

It sounds as though you had a delightful week-end as well!

Okay - I know you went Whoo Hoo and jumped in - but have to say you were a mighty brave soul! Gee that water looked crisp and clear. Nice pool. You have so much fun.

We went to see the movie Avengers. Pretty good.

Love, sandie

You are braver than I'd be, but what a fun memory for the kids. :)
