The Company of Pets

Anyone who has ever loved a pet knows what gifts they are in life.

Every time I sit down in front of the computer at night, my beloved Honey Cat keeps me company.

Pitter patter, pitter patter, pitter patter. Down the steps of the basement she comes on padded feet.

I keep an extra chair with cushioned pillows on top, next to the one I sit in.

Up jumps Honey Cat and within two seconds, she's out like a light.

When I finish posting or doing my emails and return upstairs, she's usually right behind me and often passes me like a  little bullet on the stairs.

Surely, sharing our lives with pets is a special gift from God.

We don't know how long we'll have them. Things can change in an instant.

Every second with them is precious. We must make each moment count.

Today we are joining Think on These Things on Lorraine's blog, With a Grateful Prayer and a Thankful Heart.

p.s. Happy Canada Day to all Canadian readers. May your day be memorable!

Don't you wonder how they curl up like that and feel comfortable. There is no way my body could do that. And they do shoot up the stairs right past you. Honeycat is adorable and I know you love her a lot. We love Disco. sandie

My cat used to study with me. Whenever I'd sit in front of the computer desk to study, he'd jump into the nook my computer monitor sat in and then curl up to sleep with one paw over his eyes, much like Honey Cat.

He was my roommate through school, and he was the best roommate I could've asked for. Thank you for reminding me of those days. :-)

Blessings to you and yours.

I so agree! We have 2 cats and a pooch. A few weeks ago we had to put down our oldest cat, Zoe, she was 17. This was my husbands baby. He still misses her so much, but cherishes the years we had her. YOur kitty is so cute!

I remember Honey Cat when she came to your family. Just recently saw pictures of her as a kitten. Isn't it great that you've had her all these years?

Your Honey Cat is just beautiful and she sounds like a true blessing to you. Our dear pet is a golden retreiver named Lucy, a shy and loyal friend who sticks by me wherever I am. They are indeed such special gifts to us!

I so agree... Surely, sharing our lives with pets is a special gift from God! How thoughtful of you to have a comfy chair beside yours just for Honey Cat.

So happy you linked to Think on These Things!

Recent numbers show that 63% of US households own a pet - that's 71.1 million homes and families with dogs, cats, iguanas, parakeets, fish, ferrets, potbellied pigs, etc, etc., Taking care of a pet is tougher than taking care of an infant, since our pets can't speak. Hence, making sure your pet is safe and happy when you leave it alone at home should be a priority for all pet owners. One of the simplest ways of watching over a pet remotely is by using some sort of webcam software like GotoCamera that is easily available online these days. Thanks to technology and some very smart people who are working on making things easier for us, you can now use your basic webcam to monitor your pets while you're away from them.
