Creating in Watercolors

Michael Cohen is a wonderfully talented portrait and landscape artist.

His studio is right over the Massachusetts border, in New Lebanon, New York.

Luckily, he shares his talent by teaching others watercolor techniques.

I love learning and observing all kinds of classes.

It's part of the joy of life, don't you think?

This summer I was privileged to sit in on one of Michael's classes.

Actually, it was the last class in a series he taught at the Lenox (Massachusetts) Community Center.

The paintings in this post were done by students in the beginners watercolor class!

I think they did a great job.

The art works were displayed for two weeks at the center after the class ended.

Just look at all the fabulous colors students used.

Imagine, these were the paintings of  beginning watercolor artists!

The instructor did a great job of teaching others this painting technique.

Many thanks to Michael for allowing me to share all of this on my blog.

Below is one of Michael's paintings, depicting the Hancock Shaker Village.  Some of his paintings as well as those of a few other artists, will be displayed at the village in coming weeks.

I have absolutely no artistic talent but my sisters do and I've seen work of theirs in watercolors, oils, pastels, and the like...I think it is a great talent to have.

How wonderful! Where's your painting? I would have loved being there for the class. I've bought supplies but just haven't done any dabbling yet. :) Have a fabulous day. Tammy

I love vobrant colors. I've always wanted to paint and play piano. I may try when I get "old"; I'm too busy writing.

What a nice post, Susan! No, I've never done any painting at all. One of our daughters, however, was a college art major. She prefers media other than watercolors, though.

Have a great Thursday!

I like oil and acrylic painting but found I am terrible at watercolors. I may look for an art class around my new area this fall...it is a very art orientated place. Thank you for sharing the photo's...I enjoy seeing each students work.

I have to admit that I don't have one ounce of talent in this department, but when I see artwork - I am just amazed at what talent people have. sandie
