Books add to the sheer enjoyment of life.
Since childhood, books have played a very special place in my life.
Weekly trips to the library as a small child set the stage for a life long love of reading.
It's thanks to my late Mom that I learned to love reading as a small child.
Truly, what would life be like without books? They are constant companions.
The table near my bed is stacked with books. Some are re-reads many times over. There's the Bible, of course, and then there are some newly acquired ones.
Any time I see a used book sale coming up, my heart races just a little faster.
There is no telling how many book cases this house holds, in addition to a library spanning the length of two living room walls, from floor to ceiling.
It's imperative that I go through each shelf this coming week and weed out.
"Why?" you might ask. Well, because a major book sale is coming up this month and room must be made for new acquisitions.
I cannot help but think how blessed we are to have books as well as the ability to read them.
I really do like to think on how wonderful books are and how grateful I am to be able to read, enjoy and love them!

I have many favorite books and I don't very often keep books I pass on to friends and they do the same so sometimes they go full circle and return to me.

I want your bookshelves!!! I NEED them. I have soooooo many books. I loved the Hunger Games trilogy. I read alot of diff. things but am a big Stephen King fan.
I so love books. I have a lot in my apartment; too many for the space so I haven't purchased a new book in a long while. Every now and then I purchase several gently used books at a time and then I return them to the thrift when done. It is very hard to pick a favourite book but several of them would be: Family Matters, Kite Runner and The Shellseekers.
So many favorite books --- The Little Princess --- a classic --- and ALL the books by Maeve Binchy.
I gravitate w/o conscious thoughts to books -- ALL. THE. TIME! You are very blessed to have such an expanse of shelves, and I can identify with your need to weed them out to make room for "new" ones.
Favoites? I have WAY too many. The Miss Read series, Gift from the Sea, lately those by Elizabeth Von Arnim, all by Henri Nouwen, Elizabeth Elliot, and Edith Schaffer....and I could go on and on!
Have you ever played Upwords? (It's on the top shelf of the bookcase in your picture.) It's one of our favorites here at Gatescroft!
Oh, Susan, you know Bookie likes her books! Reading a bio on Bonhoeffer, a Maeve Binchy, and a Ray Bradbury all at the same time. If only I had an extra set of eyes!
You inspire me, Susan! I don't read as much as I would like. Did just finish Heaven is for Real but my nightstand is full of half read books.

I go to the library every two weeks and gather a handful of books to read. Sometimes, I find an author whose writing just thrills me and I end up reading all of their books.
I've even read children's books such as the The Hunger Games and Harry Potter.
I love books and always have. I keep some but like many others pass them on to friends or donate. My stack of TBR is always huge. I don't know what life would be like without books! Hugs, Linda

I have several favorites, but if I had to choose one, it would be Anne Morrow Lindbergh's, "Gift from the Sea." Timeless truths.
It would be so very difficult for me to select one book as my favorite! I just cannot clear any off my bookshelves! When I was a child, I dearly loved reading a series of biographies of people who had been important in history. They were bound in orange, and I would read one a night! The teacher would let me go back to the library every day since I would return the book I had finished reading. I kept on until I had read all of them!
I love to read. I think I read at least three books a week especially during the summer months when I have time off. I'm into my kindle now but have tons of books on my bookshelves in the family room. I tend to love historical novels the best and biographies of historical people.I hate to part with some of these books..I've had them for years. I just do not have a favorite.
I'm an avid reader, Susan. In fact, I've got 4 books going right now. :)
Next to the Bible, I love historical fiction. I read many other genres as well.
