Tea in a Mansion

One  summer event that was a lot of fun took place inside Ventfort Hall, in Lenox, Massachusetts, a huge mansion  and museum of the Gilded Age that's in the process of being renovated.

The event was part of the Tea and Talk series at Ventfort Hall. First come the talks, on a variety of subjects, then tea in the mansion's elegant dining room.

Check out the Ventfort Hall website here for more information.

This blog has had other posts on this unique attraction and will have a couple more in the near future.

Volunteers prepare all the food offerings at the teas. At the one I attended, there were different kinds of sandwiches and sweets.

A volunteer served tea from a silver service.

One of my friends, who is also a docent at the mansion, made the sweet little confections shown at the top of this post. She said they are as easy as can be to make.

She buys little meringues at the supermarket. Then, she puts Cool Whip in a plastic bag, snips off a corner, and puts  swirls on top of each meringue.

Lastly,  fat red raspberries go on top and then they are sprinkled with confectionery sugar.

Talk about pretty and quite tasty, too!

And feast your eyes on the lovely silk flower arrangement that decorated the middle of the long, elegant table!

HAVE YOU EVER ATTENDED A SPECIAL TEA?

This must have been a delightful experience! Yes, I've attended a few special teas through the years, fundraisers for non-profits. Some wonderful delicacies have been on the plates.:) The meringues sound very simple and look so appealing!

Have a great Wednesday!

I have never attended a tea before and would love to but it just doesn't happen much in the west. The meringues looked scrumptious.

This place looks very charming, Susan. I went to a tea house like this for a bridal shower years ago. The meringues look amazing, and I wish I had one right now. I love tea houses - they are so quaint inside.

Ooops, sorry Susan, that last comment was me, I guess I didn't put my name in, that's why it came out anonymous.

We had a ladies' tea in our pastor's backyard. Everyone brought something to eat, and the decor was as feminine as a picture from the Victorian era.

Years ago...lace table cloths, old teapots and teacups...dainty sandwiches...it was a special treat and charming like yours. Thanks for sharing and bringing up some fond memories for me.

Oh my goodness that looked like fun. I went to a tea at the Governor's Mansion - haha - but he wasn't there.
Now those little cookies on the top - wonder how long the cool whip holds before it kind of starts to melt. You have such a wonderful life. sandie
