Church Yard Sale Surprise Purchase

Okay, anyone who is familiar with this blog knows my obsession for yard sales.

The more the merrier seems to fit the bill.

These days, in this tough economy, I try really, really hard to be discerning in my purchases.

At one recent church sale , I rummaged through merchandise on tables that still had a lot of stuff on them.

To the left of the curtain, place mat and linens table, against the wall, stood a very pretty and large object.

It caught my eye because I love pink flowers against a dark background.

It was from Italy. Somehow, I like almost anything made in Italy.

This lovely piece had a top on it, too.

"How much is this?" I inquired of a church volunteer.

"Well," she said, looking  it over. "Since it's the end of the sale, it's $2.00."

Holy macaroni! TWO DOLLARS for this beauty

It does have a hairline crack around the lip area. No doubt someone had broken it and then glued it back together but honestly, one cannot tell unless you get up close and personal.

After paying for it, the huge vase got hauled out to the car and laid  carefully on the seat. It took up about half of it.

Once home, it got lugged up to the porch for a photo op, so I could show you on this blog.

Since our living room has pink woodwork and a pink fireplace, I knew the treasure would look perfect in a corner.  It does!

WHEN YOU GO TO A YARD SALE, DO YOU LOOK FOR SPECIFIC OBJECTS THAT YOU HAVE IN MIND OR DO YOU JUST LOOK FOR WHAT APPEALS TO YOU AT THE MOMENT?

Sweet!!!!

I have a few things on my mind that I'm looking for, but mostly just cast a gaze around to see what's "calling my name" :)

What a beautiful vase!! Whenever I go to a sale such as this, I usually go with an open mind. We lucked upon one while visiting with our daughter in another city, and were able to fill a bag for only $5.00 as it was near the end of the sale! I came home with some real finds.

Gorgeous and it looks like something I'd pick for you.

You do have fun at your sales. I don't do many garage sales. But when I go thrifting - I just look and see what grabs me.

Love, sandie

Excellent purchase. Not only a delightful addition to your house, but you've done your bit to stimulate the "tough economy." Well done all round!

(BTW; I'm with sandie; she showed me the way.)
