Even though I'm a city girl at heart, the thought of living in a house in the country has crossed my mind.
How cool it would be to have cage-free chickies and access to the freshest ever eggs?
Maybe a cow or two for fresh milk and cheese.
Recently I drank "raw" cow's milk for the first time in my entire life and it was fresh, creamy and absolutely delicious.
A garden near a house in the countryside would produce fresh veggies. There would be nice country air and, well, you get the idea.
The chances of my actually living on a farm are quite remote.
Our house in the city is in the perfect (for us) location, close to everything and a style we love.
But I could finally have my farm-of-sorts by buying the darling birdie barn shown in this post.
Yup, it's a barn for the birdies and it even has a silo and its own cow!
It was so darned cute, when spotted at Whitney's Farm Stand in Cheshire, Massachusetts, that I just had to snap a couple photos of it.
Only $12.99 but I didn't buy it.
Whenever the yen hits to go to a house or barn in the country, all I have to do is close my eyes and remember the little "birdie farm."

Hi Susan, I am a small town person. We live in a neighborhood just out of the city limits by about a half mile or so. I too have dreams of having a farm. I would love to have a real garden and learn to can my own vegetables. I also think that I would like chickens. The eggs that you get in the stores are not even close to the freshness of farm eggs. I think that one of the best things about living in the country would be not having so much traffic . . .I love taking walks and bike rides, but hate traffic.

Suburbs, but like visiting the country. All I really need is a creek and a tree.
Susan~As I come to your blog each day, I learn more about you and know we would be great friends. I love the idea of living on a farm, but we too live in a urban community, so I live out my fantasy by visiting the farmer's markets here and listen to the stories my sister tells of her chickens. My maternal grandmother's family were farmers and after my grandfather retired from the Marine Corp, they bought a farm in Maryland. I have cherished memories of being near them and learning about farm life--I appreciate the hard work it takes for the rewards we get, XOXO

I love the country, but live in town. And now that we are older, prefer it that way.

Admire the country...appreciate it but am city girl most of the way! Books,stores, libraries, shoes, museums, etc.
I have always lived in the west of Sydney, I Love the shops and the activies of the cities but the quite of the country is hard to beat, as a child we often went to my uncles farm for holidays, a time I remember fondly.

I love the country, small town life. I recently moved into my new Ann Arbor Michigan area where it is a nice blend of city and country. Shopping and cows :)
I really like what a city has to offer, but don't like the idea of living in the middle of one.:) Consequently, we live out of town, on a little over an acre, with farmland nearby, and we are able to hear the occasional cow, plus there are horses around as well. Farming is really a very hard way of life. I am very grateful for those who have been successful at it, for they make my choices much more pleasant.:)

I am a city girl who would love to visit the country on the weekend.
I've lived mostly in suburbs; never in a large metropolitan area, never in a small town, never in the country. I've visited all of these, and always loved them for their various Pros, and didn't like them so much for their various Cons!
We are small town people and if we head somewhere for the day it's always to the deep country - never to the city. I just never think to go there - not for me. Although it's not like I don't like them I just prefer the country.

I like where I live..it's close to everythig and anything I need. I do not have to drive far at all. Love it. I'm in the suburbs and very happy.
