Giveaway Prize Arrives!

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone in blogland who expressed concern for people along the eastern seaboard in the path of Hurricane Sandy.

Because we live inland, we were spared the destruction and fury that many other easterners experienced on Monday.

We have had fierce wind and rain but nothing too horrendous.  The lights flickered a few times and shut off once but came right back on again so we have been blessed.

Today, schools are still closed and we will be hunkering down again. The crock pot is filled with beef stew, the house is warm, and we are all safe and sound, so I'm grateful.

So on to today's  post!

Isn't it fun to win a prize?

I'm not a big winner of contests, scratch tickets or  lotteries.

As a matter of fact, I rarely win anything!

So you can imagine how excited I was when Susan, from My Mother's Apron Strings, notified me I won a giveaway on her blog!

Sure enough, a few days after her husband drew my name, a package arrived in Massachusetts from Washington state.

 Oh, it was so exciting!

The gift was nicely wrapped in a piece of silver tissue paper.

There was a bow across the box inside, too.

It's shown at the top of the post.

Susan also included a lovely notecard with an autumn message on the front written by Emily Bronte .

Every leaf speaks bliss to me
                                   Fluttering from the autumn tree.

Susan wrote a short note, too, congratulating me on winning!

The gift, of course, was a sunflower necklace. Very darling.

 Thanks so much, Susan.

You are one of the reasons I love blogland so much!

WHAT WAS THE LAST GIFT YOU RECEIVED AND WHO WAS IT FROM?

I love carrying on the generosity my mother showed to her friends and family during her life and of course, Kelly did as well. It's also a wonderful feeling to discover a new friend--I love blogland too:-))

This is such a lovely gift, and I'm sure you will enjoy it for a long time to come! My most recent gift was quite unexpected, as a dear friend sent me tickets for a concert! She had to cancel her own appearance due to a job obligation, and I was MOST happy to receive such a thoughtful gift!

I'm very happy to learn that you are safe where you are, and my prayers are still with those who are facing devastation and loss.

Congrats - I have to tell you that was beautiful and much deserved.

The last gift I got was your lovies that I won!

And I am glad you were spared - I hate to see all that devastation there. So sad.

Glad to hear all is well where you are. I just saw on the news that Hoboken NJ is under water. And a community in Queens burned down because of the high winds that caused a fire with downed electric lines. Crazy! Congrats on the giveaway win. Take care! Tammy

Well, the last gift I received has to be the giveaway I won from Sharon Lovejoy! It is a marvelous book that we have already enjoyed immensely!

It is such good news to hear that you have been spared the worst and that the storm is practically over. We have minimal effects here - some wind, cooler temperatures, and snow in the mountains 1 1/2 hours away.

The sunflower necklace is a pretty addition to your jewelry collection!

Susan,
What a nice gift from your bloggy friend. I love sunflowers, and that will look so nice on you, maybe wearing an orange looking Fall sweater. Our bloggy friends are so special, aren't they?
