Spicy Snack for the Squirrels

Do you know the squirrels around here are fresh little creatures?

They have chosen to snack on two sweet little pumpkins that sit in near chrysanthemum plants out front.

When I came out of the house and saw pieces of pumpkin scattered all over the front steps, it made me mad.

I went in and got a container of cayenne pepper and sprinkled it all over the little pumpkins.

The past couple of days there have been no pumpkin pieces on the steps.

Perhaps the little bushy tails don't have hot pepper palates.

HOW DO YOU KEEP SQUIRRELS FROM DIGGING UP YOUR FLOWER BULBS?

First of all, I love the oranges of your punkin and the mums. Secondly, bad squirrel.
Cayenne would be my idea too, the powder or maybe the flakes like you put on pizza.
It is hard to discourage them; they dig in my pots and plant peanuts in them.

My grandfather always told me, "you plant enough to share with the animals!" However, when they start vandalizing your lovely decor, they've gone too far:-D Bad Squirrels!

I can never catch them in the act so I just swear and puch them back into the ground. We do have less of a problem with squirrels not that we have a dog again.

That seems to be a good trick that works. We don't have too many squirrels over here.
Enjoy your day!

I sprinkled hot pepper down to see if the ants would go away but it didn't really work.

Naughty squirrels! That cayenne was the perfect choice.

Actually, we have no squirrels that bother us here, so that's one worry we don't have.

Enjoy your Thursday!

Susan,
Your flowers are so pretty. I'm sure it bothered you that the little squirrels were getting to them. I love your bright orange pumpkins. They look wonderful on your front porch. I enjoy coming over to visit here. Your blog is so cheerful to me.

I just don't plant bulbs that squirrels will eat. So that would be daffodils, daylilies and allium.

Sounds like the pepper is doing the trick...I do not have any squirrel problems ...I must not have anything they want. If they do start bothering stuff I will try the pepper like you did. We have a little squirrel that comes up to the patio and teases our kitty's. I have to add that Your flowers are lovely.♥
