Tenacious Autumn Leaf

Patches of sunlight filtered through the branches of the front yard tree.

The autumn attire, thousands of brilliant yellow leaves, looked almost golden against a perfectly blue sky.

The air was crisp and on the cool side.  Leaves crunched under my feet as I made my way to the car.

Such days in this most blessed of seasons make the heart sing.

Slipping behind the wheel, I looked out in front of me.  Fallen leaves had piled up in the space at the bottom of the windshield.

I started the car and backed it up out of the driveway.

One solitary leaf clung, shown in the top photo, clung to the windshield and I couldn't help but wonder how long it could hang on.

All the way to the end of the street, the leaf remained, then detached and took off in a gust of wind.

It made me think how human beings, too, can be tenacious.

We hang on sometimes in the worst of circumstances.

Then, there comes a time when we can finally let go.

And then we're free.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MOTHER NATURE?

Glad you found inspiration in the leaves...and you are so right about the lesson you saw!

This fall has been a really good "Mother Nature show." We still have lots of color on the trees as the leaves have not really begun to fall.

Sending wishes for a good Tuesday!

God has richly blessed us in our part of the country with beauty all year 'round, and I can think of no other place I'd rather be on earth! E TN is lovely, with its valleys and its hills, then the Great Smoky Mountains are always showing the beauty of God's creation! I truly cannot choose a favorite season, although I will admit that I do NOT enjoy hot weather!! Please keep the highs below 75 for me! :-) Thank you for the lesson and the life application of that tenacious leaf. It is sometimes hard to know just when to let go, but we have to trust God for the outcome!

I wish my leaves were crunchy...it's been raining on and off the last week and I'm afraid they are going to weight a ton getting them raked up and off the lawn. Oh, beautiful fall I just don't have the time right now to labour over your golden leaves!! Love you photo of the one leaf falling; wishing that's all I had:-D

The only thing about Autumn I don't like is raking the leaves but the do make a great soil compost and it's free, the colours are always very pretty.

I know exactly what you mean about days like that making your heart sing. I'm in total awe of just how beautiful an autumn day is.

I was thinking about what you said about friends. I guess some come into our life for awhile and then some leave. Just like the seasons....

Leaves do not actually let go of the trees...the tree pushes them off. Sometimes we can hang onto a relationship to long. But like the leaf that is pushed off...it brings joy to others. I think I like that mother nature is never boring. :)

I even had some colored leaves stuck in my front car window this week. Can you picture that in So. Cal? Wow!

Well now, that is a very lovely analogy. :)

Around here, the only thing flying off of people's cars are the fliers left there in the night that they can't bother themselves to take off and put inside their car or in the garbage. :/

Best wishes, Tammy
