Getting Ready to Decorate for Christmas

Soon it will be time to take down the cranberry glass on top of the television set.

It will be replaced with Christmas decor.

We'll also have fires going almost nightly in the fireplace.

I love our wood burning fireplace, mess and all!

Until then, there are six red candles burning in there.

They are pretty, too, don't you think?

DO YOU LIKE WOOD BURNING FIREPLACES?

Oh Susan for sure there is nothing like REAL fire!!! We put in a gas fireplace but sometimes I still miss our woodstove we had before.
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We have a wood fireplace and I love it but we don't use it much now as it's too hard to chop the wood.

Susan I'm ready to decorate for Christmas today also! I love a fireplace but sometimes it's hard to clean the ash out. Still it's lovely to look at. Hugs, Linda

Susan--I grew up with a fireplace and loved it. In the winter months, on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon we'd sometimes have a picnic lunch in front of the fireplace...spread out a blanket, sit on the floor and have a blast.

Have fun decorating for the holiday.

The state of Washington is very strict about burning wood fires because of the pollution. Needless to say, when our home was built, all the fireplaces have gas logs, not as pretty, but I have to say, with my allergies to smoke, I don't have the headaches and teary eyes to contend with. Whatever kind of fire you burn, I agree, it gives a warm glow to this most blessed holiday:-D XOXO

I truly do love the wood-burning fireplace and the ambience it provides, but I would NOT enjoy the work that's involved with keeping it clean, and hiring a chimney sweep every winter would be a bit too expensive for my budget these days. I'm eager to see your lovely home after you get it decorated, though!

Hi Susan,
We didn't have an open fireplace in our house..we had a wood burning stove....we LOVED it. Our children thought it was the most marvelous thing they had ever seen.
We had a regular gas stove as well, but in winter we cooked a lot on the 'fuel stove' as we call wood stoves in Australia. We don't use it any more due to pollution regulations.
Have a good day

Just returned this evening from some time in a home with a wood-burning fireplace, and I must admit, it was really nice. We had one before we built this house and enjoyed a fire during the winter rather often. Here we have gas logs which we don't use very often.

Already slowly making the switch from fall/Thanksgiving decor to Christmas!

Have a good evening, Susan!

We had a fire going three nights in a row here in So. Cal. It was 70 degrees outside but we still loved sitting by the fireplace in the evening when it does cool down. I love my fireplace!
