November Thoughts

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Well, things are whirling around here. How about at your house?

This is a busy month of cleaning, planning, preparing, buying and dreaming of the holidays to come.

We are adrift in the changing from one season to another.

We have to get accustomed once again to it getting dark very early in the day.  Winter is tip toeing closer and closer into our midst.

The scarecrow kids all came in off the front porch as well as the electrified pumpkins. Everything is piled up on the stairs to the attic so you know what I'll be doing during the next few days.

Cleaning plus packing everything up in preparation for Christmas decorating!

Sometimes, when I think of all that has to be done before Christmas, it becomes a bit overwhelming. That's when I know I have to STOP.

Somehow, some way, everything that's important will get done.

And if it doesn't, it's not the end of the world. Period.

Friday night I went shopping in Albany, New York, with one of my sisters and I tell you. The crowds are already out there.

It makes me want to run away to a cabin the woods to sit by a crackling fire, far away from crabby and tired people.

I yearn for peace, quiet and reflection on why we celebrate the holidays.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE SANELY FOR THE HOLIDAYS? WHAT ARE YOUR SECRETS FOR KEEPING CALM AND PEACEFUL?

Hi Susan,
My answer to your question about preparing for Christmas is...Start planning in January and make lists of everything while it's still fresh in your mind.
I hope your packing away of Halloween and the changeover to Christmas has some fun in the midst of the busyness.
Have a good day

Remembering the real reason we are celebrating helps me keep things in perspective. It is all about being with those we love and keeping a balance. It helps me to plan ahead and set a few personal deadlines. If something more spur-of-the-moment comes up, I make a point to enjoy it!

Enjoy your week-end!

This holiday season I will be alone so I don't even care if I decorate.

I love the Christmas season, and for some reason, I'm feeling like doing something early! Living in a quadriplex, though, it's difficult to put anything outside too early, but I love to put out my big red bows on the railings and the mailbox as soon as it's reasonable. I also keep my focus on the reason for the seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas, when it's such a blessing to join with those we love, even if only for an hour or two. The old hymn, "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" always helps me stay in focus EVERY day!! :-)

I do understand what you are saying and I have been there myself and still find myself there sometimes.

What I do it write down everything I need to do and then divide it up in weeks and then pace myself.

Good luck,
sandie

I just take it one day at a time and I create a calendar that takes me from the week of Thanksgiving thru Christmas. I only plan what I know I can do and I am super organized. I hope you can enjoy the season and relax a bit. :) Kit

I wish I had some great advice. I panic that the shopping won't get done, wrapped and the cookies won't be made. I say every year that this will not happened next year, but it always does.

I do most of my shopping online and avoid the crowds altogether. Love this season of the year though. I do HATE it getting dark early!
