March of the Gingerbread People

It's time for the gingerbread people to hop into the oven.

So far, none have jumped off the cookie sheet and run down the street.

One of the best parts of making gingerbread men (and women and kids) is how they make the house smell.

The heavenly spice fragrance is very welcoming to any drop-in guests!

It's not hard to make gingerbread cookies.  I find it's best to cut them out on the thick side.

If they get hard, you can always dunk them into coffee.

I decorated quite a few but left plenty for little people to have fun with.

Granted, some of them look like they are related to E.T. , but who cares? They are not enrolling in any gingerbread beauty contests!

There are gingerbread stars and trees, too. (I like the trees the best.)

All the supplies are ready to go, awaiting miniature bakers!

As a matter of fact, there just might be a small army of gingerbread people, trees and stars around here!

They make cute gifts, too.

It's one way to say "Merry (and yummy) Christmas!"

Do you have a favorite gingerbread cookie recipe?

The thought of these "dunked" in coffee will NOT leave my mind the rest of the day. I'm sure of it! I'm not sure I've ever made any myself. Did I overlook it or did you share YOUR recipe????

I do not make them but I got a big one for a gift from a kid yesterday and it really smells good. I'm not a sweet eater at all so will give it to some other person soon!

In all my years of living and baking, I have NEVER made gingerbread cookies!! I do enjoy eating them, though, and just might have to make some regular gingerbread before long, especially after thinking about that wonderful aroma in the house! Yours are adorable, Susan!! :-)

I have never made gingerbread cookie - but yours look delicious. Now this is the thing - those cookies and having fun with them - so important not to be a perfectionist - makes it more fun.

Adorable! I wanted to make some the other day but the dough wouldn't cooperate and the taste wasn't quite as I expected. Felt like something was missing. Perhaps you could share your recipe. :) Hugs, Tammy
