Dollhouse Hobby

 Hobbies are like ice-cream.

There are so many flavors it's hard to pin down a favorite.

So why not try a little of each?

Trust me, I have more hobbies than can be counted but one of my favorites is dollhouse miniatures.

This year, 2013, one of my "goals" is to complete a dollhouse bakery that has been in the works for a long time!

Well, I'm happy to say,  I dug out some old dollhouse furniture that has been stored in the attic for several years.

All the pieces got painted white.

Trays of "baked" good are going to go onto the shelves.

One place to find the trays is in eye shadow containers.

The shadows often come in little metal holders that make great dollhouse bakery trays.

Unfortunately, I threw some eyeshadow out last week that had several compartments and could kick myself for that.

Anyway, so far the furniture is looking  pretty good.

I'll keep you posted on dollhouse bakery progress!

WHAT IS YOUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE HOBBY?

Miniatures are fascinating. I'd have never thought of eye shadow containers.

I can't wait to see the completed doll house!
For a long time I just collected all kinds of things that I planned to work on. Finally had a talk with myself agreeing that I needed only one thing to work on and that if/when I finished that....I could begin another.

Oh Susan, I am SO EXCITED about your project! I have had a miniature post office in my head for my Tasha Valentine doll event each February! I have collected most of the items, but that's it. What kind of paint are you using here? I just don't know anything about paint!
This is going to be so fun to watch the progress. Great to put it on your blog-MOTIVATION!
You are inspiring.
Love ya,
Linda

Genealogy is my ultimate hobby but I can't do it as much anymore because of my migraines.

Hello from Spain: I like your furniture. The light colors are always very elegant. Great job. My hobby is collecting Barbies and other dolls. It's a hobby that relaxes me everyday. Keep in touch

Well painting mainly but I like to sew and knit too, and of cause the garden.
I do like dollhouses, the miniatures create a tiny world that delight me.

I would have to say that playing bridge is a favorite hobby of mine, though reading is pretty high on the list, as well as cooking! I once did a good deal of sewing, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside.

I hope you plan to show us the dollhouse project when you are finished.:-)

Swimming, reading in my kindle and playing piano and singing are a few of my hobbies. I do not collect anything...too much stuff to get rid of as it is. Your bakery will be wonderful Susan.

These little pieces are looking good! I so enjoy your doll house hobby and look forward to seeing how cute these look finished.

I guess my favorite hobby is photography. There is seldom a day I don't snap a few pics. I just spent the last hour deleting hundreds of duplicates. It takes a lot of shots to get a good one!

Oh, I can't wait to see this bakery! How cute!! I think it's so good, important and healthy to have many hobbies! Can you imagine that some people have none. :( So cool that the metal eye shadow containers can be trays! Cool trick! Enjoy!

Gosh I know what pains taking work that can be - yet so rewarding when it is finished. It looks like you are doing a beautiful job.

This is weird - but my absolute favorite thing ever is to talk to people and be with people. I really enjoy that more than anything. Does that count?

Hi, Susan! You've got some spam or flood comment...

The doll house hobby is cute and needs your patience, as to prepare and arrange all tiny furniture and create a realistic interior. Looking forward on seeing your doll house!
