Little Colorful Hen Comes Home to Roost

This past weekend, I had to zip into Michael's Crafts Store to pick up some Sculpey modeling clay, used for my miniatures hobby.

Heading down one of those fascinating, packed-to-the-gills aisles, a colorful little hen just about clucked at me from one of the shelves.

"Bawk bawk bawk," she seemed to say. "Look at MEEEEEEEE. I'd be so cute on a spring tablescape.

Now I don't know about you, but I have to make trips to Michael's very quick affairs because my eyes land on a couple hundred items in just a few minutes time.

I whizzed past the little hen but quickly backed up.  She was truly an adorable and full-of-color creature.

My initial thought was she was made in Portugal or some other exotic country but her label clearly indicated China.

She made me smile.  I bid her adieu, found the Sculpey and prepared to go to the cash register.

Uh oh. Once again, I was in the same aisle as the little hen.

Can you believe that as I passed her, my left hand grabbed her by the colorful tail and whisked her into my shopping cart?

It happened in a split second.

I was so happy she was 50 percent off so she cost just a little more than $4.00.

Sunday morning I had a breakfast for some guests and the little hen/chicken took a bow, right in the middle of the table.

We are coming to the "tail end" of this story so here's a shot of the little hen's colorful tail:

Happy Monday, everyone!

DO YOU EVER MAKE IMPULSE BUYS?

I don't blame your left hand at all! She is so bright and colorful, and at half off, why even try to resist?? She will bring you MUCH pleasure for a long time! Yes, I have been known to make impulse buys, but I try to limit those now, since I'm only on Social Security and the income is a bit limited. It's still hard to pass up a good buy at Big Lots or Dollar General, though! LOVE the bargains always!

I only shop when it is necessary...sorry I'm not an impulse buyer at all. I whisk into the store...get what is needed and I'm out in a couple of seconds. Cute hen Susan.

Oh, yes! I certainly DO make impulse purchases.:-) Particularly if there is a discounted price involved. You have quite a colorful, perky little hen for your table!

Hi Susan... I have to admit to impulse buying at times.
Your little red hen is lovely. I totally understand where your left hand is coming from. She looks so nice on your table.
Have a good day

I just went last weekend and spent too much - I could spend a fortune there - I love the store. I love your rooster too. He is a bright and cheery fellow.

Micheal's was one of the stops Sue and I were going to make...but we did not get to go because of bad weather . It would be hard not to take that colorful chicken home...glad you did.

She is so cute. Makes me wish I had picked up that fabric elephant at the shop in Sri Lanka that I kept looking at. :(

When dealing with shorter term rentals such as a vacation house that may be
rented to one family for two weeks, another family
for one week and a third family for four weeks, some real estate agents simply charge
low finder's fees of a couple of hundred dollars. The Central Avenue business corridor faces challenges of aging buildings, not
designed for modern demands of technology and parking.
That way you will become aware of how much you should be expecting to offer.

Woah! I'm really enjoying the template/theme of this blog.
It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's very difficult to get that
"perfect balance" between superb usability
and visual appeal. I must say that you've done a great job with this.
In addition, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Firefox.
Excellent Blog!
