Yummy Raspberries

Lately, I've been yearning for raspberries.

Most berries are very delicious to me but I think raspberries are my Number 1 fave.

My father used to grow them in our backyard.

Mmm mmm mmm Fresh off the bush they are the BEST.

Anyway, last time I went to the supermarket, I picked up two bags of frozen raspberries.

After all, the chances of picking them off a bush around here are completely nil. Snow is falling as I write.

I pour out whatever amount wanted into a pretty bowl and let them thaw.

Then,  they get a little sprinkle of sugar.

Oh my gosh, they taste SO DELICIOUS.

Ocean Spray cran-raspberry juice is also delish.  Love it but it's probably too sugary to be too good for us. Although, there's no sugar added, just juice.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BERRY?

I have been a fan of strawberries for years; however, there is nothing like those few raspberries that we harvest from our bushes each season! Also, blueberries! We have loads of those! The three together are great on yogurt! Or - even in a tart!

I love blackberries, but rarely eat them here as they bother hubby's Crohn's disease. I remember picking them as a child, big fat, finger-staining berries, usually in places one had to watch for snakes...despite that, I loved blackberries.

My oldest son loves blackberries and raspberries. We can only get them frozen here. I have a bag in the freezer right now and some apples that need to be cooked up so I think I might make a crisp this afternoon. Yummo! Best wishes to you, Tammy

Those look great and I bet if you did get them fresh now they would be so $$$$!

And I think my favorite are strawberries and blueberries.

Nothing very original here---I LOVE strawberries!! My next fave is raspberries, though, and I think your plan with them in a bowl with a sprinkle of sugar is delightful! I also have memories of picking blackberries, and the memory of eating them is MUCH greater than picking them! :-)

Blueberries are my absolute favorite but I love the other berries too.

We had raspberry bushes when we lived in Connecticut and I loved going out in the morning and picking them to serve on our cereal or bake with. We're lucky to have different varieties here in Washington...an early summer and a late summer-early fall, so we pretty much enjoy them all year round. I also freeze several quart bags full and make jam. I think of them as the "elegant berry!" XOXO

Susan,
These rasberries look so delicious. Yes, I love them too, but I would have to say that blackberries are my favorite berry. I eat alot of strawberries too. I bet it was such a treat when your dad came in with homegrown rasberries. My dad used to have a garden and would bring in some amazing veggies. Your posts are always so sweet, Susan, and I love how you always include us by asking us questions at the end. Happy weekend.

Reminded me of 336. "Get out there and pick those raspberries!"

I agree with you, Susan. Berries are my favorite fruit and raspberries top the list. Those little rascals are costly to buy fresh especially when I can eat the tiny container all by myself!
