Pink Roses on White Plates

Hand painted crafts are so much more beautiful than those that are mass produced.

My late Mom loved them, too, especially if they were made by one of her daughters.

Well, one of my sisters is an artist and she painted two white plates for Mom.

The plates had little openings all along their borders and my sister threaded green ribbon through them.

(They currently need spiffing up after all these years.)

She covered them with luscious pink roses.

They were among my Mom's favorite things and she displayed them happily on her bedroom wall.

We sometimes tire of particular decorative items in our homes and have no problem popping them into a Goodwill or Salvation Army bag, right?

We can let go of them with no questions asked.

Not true for the little hand-painted rose plates.

They now hang in the master bedroom.

Each day when I glance at them, I smile, because they make me think of Mummy.

WHAT'S ONE THING THAT BELONGED TO  YOUR OWN MOTHER THAT YOU CHERISH?

Oh,they are so beautiful. I wouldn't be able to part with them either.
My Grandmothers glass cake stand is my favourite, and my mothers wedding and engagement ring, which I got made into one,and wear it as my engagement ring welded onto my wedding ring.

Just beautiful! And it is very special that you have these roses plates to remind you of your mother.

It's difficult to choose just one item of my mom's that I cherish. But I think I'll choose the water color paintings that are framed and in my home. One is a still life of a tabletop with angel figurine and bouquet of roses. It's very sweet.

I have a black opal ring that was alway keep in my mums dressing table but she said it wasn't hers, but when she died my dad gave it to me because I liked it so much as a child, along with other bit and pieces but that is the thing that I cherish.

tis' true... i have been to a thrift shop or garage sale and seen something I once had and kind of regret I parted with it.

I would never part with plates as gorgeous as the ones painted by your sister! So pretty!

These really are SO beautiful, Susan - and the fact that they were made by your sister and cherished by your mother makes them even MORE beautiful (if that is possible.....).

These plates are so lovely and memories from you Mom and your sister, so extra special. I treasure so many things from my Mom but I think the ring she had made from her wedding set and my Dad's wedding ring after he passed is something I treasure the most. I wear it always.
hugs, Linda

Susan,

These are stunning plates and if I ever saw anything like these in a Thrift shop I would be jumping hurdles over counters to get to them. I thought you would get a kick out of that mental picture of me doing that!! LOL!!

My Mom's bedroom set is one of my most cherished pieces. I will be painting it though this Summer so that will be an adventure!!

Thanks so much for stopping by to take "A Stroll in the Park " with me!!

Hugs,
Deb

Very pretty plates and talented lady.

I have my mother's brides hankie which she received from her aunt. Both women carried it for their weddings in 1900, 1952. My mother gave it to me just before I married in the early '80s and I carried it too.

While there are those items which I am able to touch, the best gift from my mother was her love, which I feel every day though she passed away 30 years ago.

My sister would truly love those plates with the roses!
