The Beauty of Nature as Well as Fun

Wow, don't know about all of you, but around here there are  lots of activities, gatherings and parties this time of year .

Last weekend was a whirlwind and there was very little time for relaxation. It was go, go, go.

Upcoming are a retirement party, two birthday celebrations , two  Holy Communion ceremonies, two college graduations and on and on.

Whew! I love celebrating happy occasions but it's a little bit  tiring as well as expensive, too, don't you think?

An anniversary dinner party last weekend was in a club overlooking a beautiful lake.

The vistas were absolutely gorgeous so I was glad I brought my camera.

The photos are shown in this post.

WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT ALL THE GIFTS NEEDED FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS AT THIS TIME OF YEAR?

This is a quiet year for us on the gifts. We have cut down on gifts anyway as so many people don't need a thing. Give where it is needed and celebrate the rest.

Susan, it was 83 here today...but rain, freezing, and snow flurries are forecast for Thursday again. The weather is not cooperating around here for flowers, gardens, or sanity!!!!

I do the best I can with what I have. After I retire I will be very very careful about spending any kind of money on gifts!

June is our party month. We usually give cash or gift cards. Good that you take your camera wherever you go.

The gift giving is always the hardest because you want to give a gift that has meaning to the person. I think Marta (comment from above) has the perfect solution! I like that. Enjoy it now as it will be sooo hot and then you will want to relax..

What do I do for gifts this time of year? If it is for a graduation, I write a check for the amount of the graduates year of graduation. For example, for grads of 2013 the check would be for $20.13 or possibly $200.13 --- depending upon how close they are to the family.

Hi Susan....wow, you have a lot going on! I think LaDonna's idea is darling. Gift cards works so well for us anymore and are always appreciatied.

Three babies are due this summer and early fall. I'm already watching for sales on baby clothes and other items.

I also put money aside for birthdays, Mother's Day, and Christmas. I'm prepared, and don't need to charge anything.

I am afraid to admit I get caught off guard most of the time and rush out for a gift. I had a friend who had a 'gift closet' She had something for everyone and would replace it when she used one. She found her gifts while on sale and was always prepared - I dream of being that organized - loved reading your post - made me think my gift giving habits again...I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy

Well you sure do have a lot of parties there girl. Phew. I have a busy time this year too - and all the ones are like close family - so I am having to go broke - I just can't say no. What are you going to do? sandie

Yes, this is a busy time of year, and there can be many invitations from those to whom we want to give a gift. Marta certainly had a good idea with the picture frame. Sometimes a nice card would suffice, particularly if the honoree isn't a very close friend. Most often, I will give a gift card to a book store.

Not much going on as far as parties...a few open houses coming up soon. I find now days all people want is money. you can put money in a unique container...such as a frame.
