Llama Visit

Summer lectures are the best, especially when they are interactive.

A recent presentation on llamas in the Lee Library in Western Massachusetts  included a visit from, well, Jack the llama, himself!

Debbie Elias, owner of Country Quilt Llama Farm of West Cornwall, Connecticut, visits schools, library and convalescent homes that have pet therapy programs.

She always brings a llama with her.

The animals travel, one at a time, in the back of a van.

Here's a photo of a photo, showing the mode of transportation:

Jack appeared to be a gentle animal who chewed his cud, looked out at the audience,  let the kids pet his neck, and plunked down on the carpeted floor when he got tired.

Mrs. Elias told all about llamas----how they come from South American and dislike hot weather; how they are sociable animals in their herds and how their fiber, or fur, is used to make sweaters, vests and all kinds of other objects.

The terrific program had the rapt attention of the entire audience, both kids and adults.

The presenter and her friend, Jack, did a great job!

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A LLAMA UP CLOSE?

My grandson in the 5th grade had to do a huge report on Alpaca's - I can tell you a lot about them. But he loves Llamas. My mom and dad went to South America decades ago - we have a little llama and I hate to say it a llama rug. Sandie

One of my faves at a petting zoo! Libraries are so filled with opportunities, and my grandsons would love this!

What a calm looking Llama! To see it immerge from the van - how cool. I try to make arrangements for events at our library - I'll have to show this to my manager to see her reaction :)
I am delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy

I have only seen llamas at a farm we took the kids to visit, many years ago. The program at the library sounded great. I would have tried to go if I had known about it.

Glad you got to enjoy it and take the awesome pictures. They look comical to me.

Hi Susan! I have seen llamas, and my husband wants one so badly! I have no idea why. LOL.

Such a fun way to learn about animals. And that llamas can be a part of therapy, which is wonderful.

Blessings to you,
Ceil

I have never been up close to one but think they are cute. I wonder do they spit like an Alpaca?

Yes, I've seen a Llama up close. There's a picture of it on my last post. I can't believe how close-up this one is. What a great picture! I love Llamas, they're so sweet.

Love,
