Patience is, indeed, a virtue

"Good things come to those who wait."

Is that a phrase from the Bible? (Bible scholars out there, can you tell us if that's in the Bible? Is it a proverb?)

Even if it's not in the Bible, it's true. At least it became true for me.

For a couple of years now,  hubs has wanted a rose arbor for the backyard.

I've wanted one, too,  and yearned to buy one for hubs last year for Father's Day.

However, when I checked garden centers to find out how much they cost, I was floored.

The cheapest was about $400 and the most expensive around $800.

Bye bye rose arbor.

This year, the wish resurfaced in my heart.

After all, my garden scrapbook includes several pictures of the wanted white arbor!

Then, one day this past spring, the BJ's catalog came in the mail. (BJ's, for those who are unfamiliar, is a big warehouse store for paid members.)

There, right before my very eyes, was a gorgeous white vinyl arbor for $199 in BJ's online!

Thankfully,  my daughter and son-in-law chipped in and we got the arbor. They even set it up for hubs!

What a Father's  Day gift that was. yah hoo!

He constructed a brick half moon and the arbor sits at the edge of it.

He even planted red roses on either side so maybe next year, they'll climb aboard.

My froggie-on-a-swing hangs from its rafters!

"All good things come to those who wait."

DO YOU LIKE ROSE ARBORS?

I only have one rose bush in my backyard...yellow...and some mini roses. I can't wait to see the roses climb on your arbor...they will be so beautiful and spiff up the backyard even more for you and your hubs.

I yearn for something like this, Susan, but don't have it due to the cost involved!:-( Perhaps patience will have positive results for me.:-)

Totally love it! I know you will enjoy it for years to come.

The little quote, "Good things come to those who wait," is not in the Bible, but the Bible certainly teaches patience and it's listed in Galatians 5:22-23 as one of the fruits of the Spirit. I'm no Bible scholar, though. :)

Your rose arbor was a great find and hubs must have been very surprised on Father's Day. I hope the roses grow fast and furious and cover the arbor with color and fragrance.

I don't have an arbor, but my son built a trellis for me and bought me a climbing clematis(blue) that is quite pretty in the early summer.

I do think good things come to those who wait. Patience is a virtue.

Your husband is a lucky man and his luck spilled over on you - a gift to share. I love rose arbors but to be honest there would be no good place in my yard so I will enjoy yours. sandie

How beautiful! I had an arbor at one of our previous houses, but somehow the new owners objected to us taking it when we moved! :/
And no, that saying is not in the Bible, but there are verses that speak of giving us the desires of our heart. Looks like your desire was manifested quite beautifully!
