Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall...

Mirrors add ambiance to any room.

The older a mirror, the better.

Looking into a mirror that's been around for many decades, it's a little creepy, but also fun, to think of all the faces that have peered into it throughout the years.

In an effort to refrain from accumulating more "stuff," I've pretty much given up going to umpteen yard and estate sales on the weekends.

Once in awhile, however, the yearn to zip into a thrift shop overpowers my willingness to halt recreational shopping.

Such was the case on a recent foray to Goodwill.

The car  just kind of zoomed into the parking lot in front of a Goodwill store and in I went.

There was a lady admiring a mirror.

She bent over and looked into it (it was propped up against a piece of furniture rather than being hung on a wall.)

She'd walk away and then look at the mirror again. When she finally moved on, sans mirror, I swooped over to the pretty little thing.

It was an old, heavy mirror with a wire hanger in back.

When I saw the price tag, I nearly keeled over.

It was just  $9.99!

With great effort, I lifted the beautiful little piece into my shopping cart.

I love that it's ornate and even gold-tone. It matches our decor nicely.

It now hangs in the front hallway, across from a yard sale "rococo"  mirror that I paid $30 for.

Glancing into the new mirror, on the way out of the front door, I think of all the others who once saw their images in it.

I wish them well and then go on my merry way.

Today we are joining Thrift Things Friday on Diann's blog, The Thrifty Groove, also hosted by Linda on A La Carte.

Why not stop by their blogs and say hello?

DO YOU HAVE A LOT OF MIRRORS IN YOUR HOUSE?

Susan, what a beautiful mirror! I love unique mirrors, too. I don't have many of them, but the ones I do have, I really like. I'll have to post some pictures of mine someday! And I understand about your car just turning right into that parking lot! Sometimes, our vehicles are just like children, aren't they?!

what a find! Mirrors do add a sort of mystery to any decor. I have an old wooden framed mirror that belonged to my husband's grandparents who were from Ireland and settled in Boston. I often wonder about the people from the past who have looked into that mirror. I have it in the upstairs hallway and just last week I held my new little grandaughter(4 months old now) up to it. She looked and looked and then broke out into a sweet little smile. She is definitely the newest face to look into the old mirror from Boston.

I love old mirrors. I have one of my grandmother's mirrors with the wire on the back; it hangs in my front room.

I have one mirror very similar to that in the entrance way - it was my mother's and it's beautiful. The others in the house are regular (?) mirrors. Your mirrors are wonderful!

That mirror is charming and quite unique!

I had a full wall of mirror that I removed because it was coming loose and I feared the liability. Also, at my age, it was becoming too difficult to clean it having to go on a ladder each time.

But a lovely framed mirror is my cup of tea these days! It does make a room look larger.

Lovely pictures you shared.

Not a lot of mirrors here, though it would be nice to have a large one on one of the walls. It would create an atmosphere of having a larger room.

I keep myself from going into the Goodwill store that is just a mile from our house, next to the grocery store that I frequent.

Enjoy your Friday afternoon and evening.

That's wonderful love the bargain and the mirror!

Our foyer has nothing else on the walls but mirrors.

Enjoy your weekend!

Beautiful mirrors... your newest one is similar to the one I have in my front entrance. Love it.

Never thought about all the faces who've peered into old mirrors. Hopefully they won't be looking back at you (hehe).
