The Bright Side of Blue!

Collecting colored glass is a mufti-faceted hobby that never comes to an end.

A sister of mine had a gorgeous cobalt blue glass collection that she no longer displayed.

She packed away the pieces in a plastic bin in her cellar.

Being the shameless scavenger that I am, I humbly asked her she'd consider gifting me with her cobalt blue glass and she said "yes!"

Did you hear the screeches coming from western Massachusetts when the night to go after the glass pieces finally arrived?

The many shapes and sizes of glass now line the shelves of the kitchen windows.

It's a beautiful collection and my heart overflows with gratitude for my sister's generosity.

Today we are joining Thrifty Things Friday from Diann's blog, The Thrifty Groove and Linda's blog, A La Carte.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLORED GLASS?

When you no longer want to display this cobalt collection please please give them to your sister's God daughter..MY daughter. She loves to collect blue cobalt. I do not have any collections of glass. I live in earthquake country!

My favorite glass collection is the Pink Dogwood Depression glass. I seem to have such a collection of dishes that it is a blessing I haven't collected much glassware.:-) This cobalt blue is beautiful, though, and you have it displayed perfectly.

Susan, you have so many lovely collections, and you seem to have an eye for putting things together to enhance their beauty! There are many colors that I would love to have, but my hubs prefers to keep things simple, so we go with clear glass, with only an occasional bright piece to liven things up a bit. I do enjoy using glassware that has a pattern on it, such as the lovely things we see at Christmastime, with holly and wreaths printed on them. That will be here sooner than we think!

Lovely! They must be stunning when the sunlight hits them.

I don't have any collections of this type, but do have some teacup/saucers. Fenton glass is a favorite - especially purple. If I did collect, that's what I'd choose.
