Advent Wreath
Advent, for Christians, is comprised of the four weeks leading up to the birth of Jesus.
It's a time of preparation, slowing down and contemplating the reason for the season.
I know there is an advent wreath lurking somewhere in a box in the attic but this year it couldn't be found so I improvised.
Four candles sit in the kitchen. A simple arrangement of stringed berries is around them.
Each day, before meals, we take time to talk to the Baby Jesus after lighting the candles.
Since it's week two of Advent, two candles are lighted.
Mostly I thank Him for the immense blessings of our lives and for coming to this earth and for changing the world forever.
DO YOU FOLLOW THE TRADITION OF THE ADVENT WREATH?

We have the Advent Wreath at church, and it is lit each Sunday in Advent. When our children were younger, we made our own to use at home.
I have never had an Advent wreath at home. How clever yours is a mere four separate candles. Why didn't I think of that!!! Nice.
Hello from Spain: I have never had an Advent wreath at home. I see the crown when I go to church. Keep in touch
I remember being thrilled as a little girl with the lighting of each candle each week at church.
We did have an advent wreath at home when the kids were young. I like the simplicity of yours.
You have made me realize that this is something I have let go by over the years, but should begin again. Thank you for the reminder, XOXO
I have never used an advent wreath. I didn't grow up with one and my church didn't use one either. I think they are pretty wonderful and might start next year.
We never really have - this is marvelous - I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy
How nice that you celebrate it in the home like that!!
We do celebrate it - but I have to tell you it is church where they light the candles.

Hi Susan! I have had an Advent Wreath since I was a little girl. It's one of my favorite Advent rituals. I even have one on my blogsite!
I love this time of year. Waiting, trying to be patient. And soon...his birth!
Blessings,
Ceil
Hi Susan, yes, I do have an advent wreath every year. I love it and the tradition and focus.
Have a great week.
Linda
We celebrate lighting the advent wreath each Sunday leading up to Christmas day....I try to keep the meaning in my heart through the week.
