Snow "Cone" Instead of Water for the Birds

Greetings from the Arctic Tundra!  Uhhh, I mean frozen western Massachusetts.

It's  been pretty ch-ch-ch-chilly around here lately.

I feel the sorriest for the birdies who have opted to stay up north instead of fly south for the winter.

Honestly, I'd do anything to have a warmer in the birdbath.

We keep seeds in the feeders for the birds but the bird bath?

All they'd get these days is a big snow cone to nibble on instead of water! Sad but true.

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO HEAT A BIRD BATH?

Sorry I do not have a bird bath...those pictures look so so snowy and cold. If I were a bird there I'd definitely go south..ha.

I guess the birds will have no problem finding water today! 52 degrees and rain has washed all our beautiful snow away. There are tons of puddles everywhere and little Lexi, (our puppy) had a ball running through them all. Guess it's the January thaw; just a reassurance that spring indeed will return to our beautiful Berkshire Hills.

Haven't got any idea how to heat a birdbath, but I bet you could google it.

Hello from Spain: I see in your city is very cold and lots of snow. I could not live there, too cold for me. I can not help you heat the bird house ...Great pics, Keep in touch

I know the answer to this one Susan. There is a bird store - a big chain and of course I forgot the name - but they sell this device for about $20 that keeps the water moving so that it won't freeze - I have seen it!

We are going to be 7 degrees tomorrow - a record. Schools have already closed for tomorrow. We are such wimps here.

Love yah,
sandie

Sending warm wishes your way. I think Jan at A Journey in Colorado bought a heated bird bath last year. :) But I'm not sure the birdies quite know what to think of it. I sure do find it amazing that tiny little birds are able to acclimate to such frigid temperatures. Happy new year and best wishes, Tammy

I had one that you just plugged in and it heated the water. The birds loved it when it was frozen out! I think they sell them and I'm sure they sell heaters for regular bird baths also.

What about a candle in a bowl under the bird bath.

Oh what a lot of snow! That just doesn't happen in my world. I wish we would have one good snow storm. I long for it every year, but....
They do have heaters for bird baths.
Our birds have to fight the wind around here! Poor things.
Love ya,
Linda

That's what our bird bath looks like too. you can buy an electric heater for the birdbath. Or take fresh water out every half hour my dear elderly aunt does.

All the little woodland birds at my home are hunkered down trying to survive - 30 wind chill :(
