Happy Birthdays Are Life's Gifts

Birthdays are for celebrating, no matter how many years have gone by.

Whenever anyone around our house has a birthday, the first thing I do is set the table with a pretty cloth.

My husband's special day is in March and we recently celebrated it.

For hub's celebration, I used a blue flowered cloth we bought a long time ago in Mexico.

He found little wrapped gifties and cards at his place at the table.

Usually there are flowers of some kind, too.

This year, hubs got gorgeous tulips.

Their color was a cross between deep red and bright orange, rimmed in yellow.

The best part is that they came with the bulbs so after they go by, we can plant them outside!

For variety, I made an orange cake with orange glaze which was simply confectionery sugar mixed with orange juice.

We had a nice but simple dinner and invited our daughter, son-in-law and baby granddaughter to join us.

Of course, we all sang to the birthday boy!

Every person alive likes to know someone is happy that he or she was born!

If today is your birthday, wherever you are, Happy Birthday to you!

DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY-CELEBRATING TRADITIONS?

You're so right - birthdays ARE a celebration. My husband recently had a b'day and was grousing and grumbling about getting older. I hugged him and told him that we should appreciate every day, especially birthdays because there are many people who never have a lot of birthdays. He agreed. -- Jan P.S. The orange cake looks divine!

We celebrate birthdays here, with the celebrants favorite meal, cakes vary except for one son and granddaughter who prefer apple crisp. Lots of presents, hilarious cards, and Happy Birthday sung in 9-part harmony - you would have to hear it to believe it.

Hi Susan... we celebrate all birthdays up to and including 21st birthday. After this we only have family 'get together' celebrations for the 5s and 0s. All other birthdays are on a 'do your own thing' basis. There are just too many in my family to keep up the yearly Birthday Party for everyone.I love your tulips and the blue wrapped presents for your husband... xxxx
Hugs and Blessings ...

Happy March Birthday, to the Birthday "Boy". :-)))))) And you did a lovely Celebration of it.

I always say that on their Birthday, a person should not have to do anything, which they don't want to do!!!!!!! So their Birthday becomes a totally "them-day." We all need a "totally us day," at least once a year! :-)))))

Mine is coming up, in a while.

I usually celebrate with my closest family members by going out to a nice dinner and having a cake. I also get many phone calls from family members who are far away. I love getting cards and save them for an entire year. Your celebrations for your husband will be forever remembered by all who participated in them. Great job!

Our oldest child (girl) was born on my birthday. Husband's birthday is two days later. The twins (girls) were born 20 months later, two days before Christmas. We have week-long celebrations the last week of April and the week of Christmas! A person's birthday is the most important day of his/her life!

Happy birthday to your hubby. It seems our tradition is to run off to Sri Lanka for my birthday. Ha! :) Remember when you asked what your readers would make for an impromptu dessert if a guest arrived unexpectedly, well, I've decided mug cakes is the way to go. I made a lemon one today with lemon glaze (powdered sugar and lemon juice) and it was delicious. In fact, when my husband invited a friend for coffee a while back, I made chocolate mug cakes for all of us. So easy and delicious! Have a super Saturday. Tammy

I celebrate birthday in the same way as you do. In Poland we organise parties at homes but nowadays is more fashionable at the restaurants. We celebrate birthday every year but the most important is 18th birthday and where I live the 50th.
