Breakfast with Guests

This past weekend, a beloved niece, her husband and a teenage daughter drove from near Boston to spend the weekend.

Hosting family members and friends is among the best gifts life has to offer.

Good company, flickering candles, a nice ambiance and delicious food make for sweet memories.

The menu consisted of strawberry cream pancakes, crisp bacon (done in the oven the night before and warmed up for breakfast), orange juice, coffee and a big plateful of watermelon chunks. Yum yum yum

For the first (and last) time ever,  I used paper cups for the juice.

While pouring one cup, it quickly fell over and soaked the pretty yellow and blue tablecloth.

After sopping up as much as possible, I placed the watermelon plate on top of the wet spot.

No more paper cups!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO SERVE FOR BREAKFAST?

Blueberry pancakes is what I like to serve Don't make bacon or sausage unless it is a very special holiday celebration. Thanks for hosting the niece and her family for the weekend!

Love those blue and white plates. Love bacon, eggs, and sourdough toast with peanut butter and hot tea for breakfast.
The sugar free brownies are a mix by Betty Crocker. Look for it near regular brownie box mixes. Also there is a choc. and a yellow sugar free cake. Both are very good!

What a wonderful post! I love visiting your beautiful blog! Thank you so much for stopping by my place today and leaving encouragement behind. :) I love cooking big breakfasts for my family. I enjoy making an egg/sausage casserole, along with fruit salad, when we have company. When it is just my little family, we often have fried eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits or mayonnaise muffins, and gravy. It is always a blessing to serve the ones we love. :)

Like Cheryl I also have an egg casserole I serve for company with "Overnight Coffee Cake" - the aroma of those two dishes baking together in the oven is divine!

Hello from Spain: I like pancakes and homemade muffins. I do not like paper cups because they always pour the drink. Your dishes and your tablecloth is very pretty and elegant. Keep in touch.

Use Oxi-Clean, Susan! I swear that gets out everything!!! I'm so glad you had a nice visit with your niece and her family! I've never done bacon in the oven! I'm intrigued! I LOVE crispy!

Nothing like watermelon!! And those plates are gorgeous. When we have guests for breakfast, they get a Full English Breakfast like we were served when in England. My husband likes making the ham, eggs, toast, fried mushrooms, fried tomatoes, etc. etc. Me? I like a protein bar. LOL
