Sweet-Faced Pansies

Pansies are the prettiest of flowers.

They have the sweetest little faces, don't you think?

Their colors are vibrant and beautiful.

If you observe closely, you'll see that some of them have outlines on their petals that look like upsidedown hearts!

I'm always a little afraid to buy them in April because we live in a cold clime.

But it was impossible to resist buying them for Easter.

I wanted them in the pots  at the top of stairs in the front yard to welcome guests who were coming for Easter dinner.

This year, I hoped to have all pinks and purples but succumbed to the perkiness of the yellows as well.

I like to gather individual pansies between my fingers, give them gentle kisses, tell them how beautiful they are and how much I love them.

The neighbors might think I'm bonkers but I don't care.  Pansies are lovies!

DO YOU KNOW ANY FOLKLORE ABOUT PANSIES?

Nice pansies! Normally I do not do pansies in the spring, but this year has been so odd and out of kilter. I have lots of pansies out now too!

Pansies are my favourite flowers too, I have planted them in my garden before Easter. My favourites are yellow and purple.

How beautiful your pansies are! I really like that they are so bright and come in various colors :) My mum likes to plant them,. because we call them "Anyuta's eyes" which relates to my name in Russian :)

I don't know anything about pansy folklore, but I do love them. They are lovely harbingers of spring in the Midwest. Love!

Pansies are the best! So colorful and sweet. Very brave to be blooming in the Northeast in springtime as the weather can be very variable. However, I have planted pansies in my covered window boxes(covered by an overhang) and they have survived very cold temps and even high winds with a dusting of snow. I have several pictures of their pretty little brave faces peeking out from under a dusting of snow. How endearing is that!

Don't know any folklore, but it would be fun to google it.

You are definitely NOT bonkers; talking to plants is normal, I am sure. Kissing them, hmmmm.
You inspire me with these photos to buy pansies, a lot of pansies, soon.

A study indicated that talking to plants...carbon dioxide from your breath...helps them grow and thrive. Yours are gorgeous.

I don't know any folklore about pansies - but I do know they have to be hardy little flowers - here in Georgia they live all year round - including every winter day we have down here.

This post came at a perfect time because I just came from another blog friend that had pansies on her post. She told us what the name of the flower meant, and now I like this flower even more. Your pansies are beautiful, Susan. I think you take some of the best flower pictures in blog land.

love,
~Sheri
