Treasured Memories In-The- Making

What is it about grandchildren that turns a "Gammie" into a marshmallow heart?

Just about anything my darling little grand-baby asks for, I want to give her.

If she said, "Gammie, I want the moon," what would happen?

Actually, I think I'd be in big trouble.

On the front porch are two big boy bunnies.

One is a plastic yellow fellow that has to be blown up.

The  other is an adorable wooden and straw bunny, all dressed up in pastels for Easter.

Well, every time my granddaughter comes to visit, she wants the "beeg bunnies" inside the house!

So what is a Gammie do?

Bring them in, of course!

Yellow bunny has one big front tooth showing.

Here's my sweetie pie trying to imitate him:

WHAT IS IT THAT MAKES GRANDCHILDREN DIFFERENT FROM YOUR OWN KIDS?

You can appreciate them as they eventually go home to their parents house. They also bring back so many memories of when you had small children! YAY for Grandchildren!

I think that there is truth to what Diane says - when you get tired, the kiddies go home to mom and dad. But I also think that when we reflect on raising our own children it seems that those years flew by so quickly. I used to baby sit my granddaughter three days a week and loved it, now she's 22 and moving to Denver. No!!! She can't do that - she's still a baby (in grandma's mind). At my stage in life I realize that not only children, but grandchildren, grow up too fast.

Hello from Spain: I do not have grandchildren but my parents consent to all their grandchildren. They adore their grandchildren. Nice pic of your lovely granddaughter. Keep in touch

I think you see your own children in your grandchildren. I know I do. It is a little bittersweet to experience the passage of time in that way. With your own children it seemed they would be little forever. The future was just that; the future. Whoosh! the years have passed and your children are grown and they have children. Wow.....

You are one awesome grandmother! I love having mine visit although it's only once a year. I think we want to take time with them that we didn't with our children. I want to be there for them and let them know how much they are loved all the time!

Awwwwww, soooooo precious... :-)

What makes 'em different?

--By "Nana" time, we aren't new at this baby/children stuff. We've survived bringing up our own kids.

--After a visit, they go home!

--Spoken by a "Nana" who did "Nana Day Care" for years. Yes, the biggest wonder is, that they go home. -gigggles-

I love being a gammie marshmallow like you.....all my grands are no longer baby's and I still want to give them the moon. Your little grand is adorable and it would be hard not to give her what she wants.....I think not feeling responsible for how they grow up lets us grandmas relax and enjoy everything about them.

Love to grandchildren is always unconditional.Grandparents love their granchildren very much, admire them and what's more they have much more time to spend with them.

She is so cute! Trying to imitate - and kissing the bunny!!! She is beautiful.

Why do we love them so much?

I think they are our second chance to get things right - to love again without the responsibilities - just to love.

Of course, the grandchildren do go home after a visit. However, I think we, when we had small children, did everything we could to "give them the moon."
