Mother's Day Remembrances

Mother's Day, 2014, turned out to be a truly beautiful day, weather-wise and otherwise.

It is my sincerest hope that ever Mom and Grandma out there had a blessed day.

My daughter, son-in-law and baby granddaughter came over for breakfast.

To me, the highlight of the meal was the fresh fruit tray with half-slices of oranges, kiwi, organic strawberries, blackberries and raspberries.

My dear daughter and I exchanged gifts.

I had hers set up at her place at the table.  Loved the pretty wrapping paper I found as the little golden hearts matched the gold bows!

One of my sisters and me went to the cemetery in the afternoon and said prayers for our late Mom, paternal grandmother and  four aunts.

Each of those  very special women had huge influences on my life and I'm so filled with gratitude for having known and loved them.

Then we visited an elderly aunt  and her daughter, my cousin, who is her caretaker.

I also enjoyed a phone call from our out-of-state son and sweet daughter-in-law.

My daughter hosted a dinner at night so we drove to her house and enjoyed a delicious dinner of steak, mixed veggies, rice and a choice of homemade brownies or apple pie!

As I write this post, my heart is filled to the brim with  love and immense gratitude.

WHAT WERE YOU MOST GRATEFUL FOR ON SUNDAY?

What a lovely day you had...how nice to hear about the prayers, Susan. Best of my day, was two hours in early morning with books and tea and quiet on the deck!

I painted my new dining room and then my hubby took me out to lunch. Calls from family, but next week we will all be together and that will be like Mother's Day all over again. I miss my mother and grandmothers too! XOXO

Your fruit platter did look very appetizing. Yum. Glad you had a nice Mother's Day. It certainly was
a beautiful day weather wise and otherwise.

Our Boston son was home last weekend and was busy moving this weekend and so I had a nice phone conversation with him; his gift of orange and yellows tulips made me smile every time I walked past them in the hallway. Our Amherst son and his wife and precious little grandaughter came for dinner, which my hubs cooked on the grill. Gifts from them were from their farm; fresh eggs collected that morning, goats milk cheese made from their own goats and 2 bottles of beer they crafted from a home brewing kit they received for Christmas.

Calls from a very dear friend and my sister and an email from a brother were all appreciated and enjoyed.

There was much to be grateful for as I lay in my bed listening to the spring peeper's concert. The warm breeze through the windows was a magical touch as I drifted off to a much needed rest.
