Painted Houses for Animals Show a Touch of Whimsey

If you have a plain shed in your backyard, would you ever consider painting it with animals, flowers or some other scene?

It might be an idea worth exploring.

On a recent side trip to Whitney's Farm Market in Cheshire, MA, we enjoyed a stop at the sparkling clean petting zoo.

The hay smelled fresh, the animals were delightful and the weather was perfect.

Talk about an ideal day trip!

What I especially loved were the darling paintings someone did on the buildings in which the animals are housed.

I have no idea who the artist was but he or she sure did a great job of painting!

Those habitats, as well as the nicely cared-for animals, were just adorable.

HAVE YOU EVER CREATED SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN YOUR YARD?
WOULD YOU TELL US ABOUT IT?
IF YOU HAVEN'T, WHAT KIND OF PROJECT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?

I think those drawings were perfect for the farm! Very whimsical.

I have a bottle tree in my yard on one side filled with different colors of bottles.

And on the other side i have three pretty ducks.

I love things like that.

.... Susan the most adventurous thing I've done outside my house is to put up mirrors in an effort to make the little courtyard look bigger...

Hello from Spain: I like the paintings in the shed. Very nice and original. I do not know how to paint. I have painted
my back yard in white. Keep in touch

I love to see plain buildings or walls jazzed up with paint -- even graffiti if it is done artistically. Just makes the space a little more lively and fun. Best wishes, Tammy

How sweet! =) I am making a bird bath for my yard out of a pretty chip and dip plate and a black pvc pipe. =) Blessings and Sunshine, Valerie

The painted sheds are adorable and I bet your granddaughter loved seeing all the animals.

Very busy with putting all the lawn furniture out and planting the window boxes and deck planters and sitting area planters, and painting the deck and painting the trim, etc. etc. Looking forward to designing an additional sitting area in the side yard. Have a few ideas for that. Sunny and cool with a breeze today, so it's outside work for me this afternoon!

I don't do much that is very different I guess. I do keep some bird baths ON the deck as well as the one in the yard. Hubby made me a rather ratty looking wooden fountain, but I love the sound of the water in wood and rock. I would LOVE to have a bottle tree!!! All blue bottles of course!
