Summer Seafood Treat

                                       "Where's my lunch, sistah?"

Summer brings all kinds of wonderful things and seafood specialties are among them.

There's  nothing like a Maine lobster roll or fried clams for tastes of lusciousness.

Being a native New Englander who lived away for many years, I can tell you seafood delights were sorely missed while living in other parts.

When it comes to clams, there are strips (chewy) and what  we call "fat bellied" clams. They are the best  as they include the whole clam.

Served  with tartar sauce, their deliciousness defies description.

Recently, on a trip to the beach in Revere, Massachusetts, where we spent the day with my sweet niece, we had fat belly clams at Kelly's.

Oh yummy, yum, yum.

There was one problem, however.

We were warned not  to leave our meals for one minute as the gulls would swoop onto the outdoor table and devour them.

No way that was going to happen to me as I wait all year long for fried fat belly clams!

I was ready to do battle with the noisy gulls if the need arose.

They devoured any  crumb that came their way and so did I!

Sorry fellas, no full entrees for you. Go catch some fish! ha!

HAVE YOU SEEN SEAGULLS CLOSE-UP?

The clams look delicious.

Many years ago, I rode a ferry in NC and the sea gulls were up close and personal begging for treats!

I get very jealous looking at that seafood as the seafood on the west coast can't compare to the east coast if you ask me. I see sea gulls all the time at the ocean. They fly by the fishing boats hoping for a bite to eat. Wish I had that clam roll right now! Yum

Hello from Spain: clams are delicious. I live in the north of my country surrounded by coastline. There are many seafood restaurants. I really like clams, octopus, cockles, prawns ... I do not like seagulls near my food. Keep in touch

I heard they had a tornado in Revere. I remember going there. I enjoyed clams, but ate them only once.

One thing we have here is great seafood, best done when fresh caught and bar-b-qued on the beach over a open fire something I haven't done since childhood.

Oh Yes, I took some pictures of seagulls awhile ago, and one was just landing and turned out really good, but I've never gotten this close to one. These are great pictures, Susan. It looks like you were so close up, wow.

love,
