Easter Memories

Memories can bring smiles as well as a touch of sadness.

Such is the case when I see the little purple bun bun and the wooden seated bunny shown in today's post.

Both were painstakingly made with such love.

They belonged to my Mother.

She loved decorations of all kinds for every holiday.

She was a faithful attendee and buyer at crafts fairs within a 25 mile radius of the small town where she lived.

When she died nine years ago, many of her decorations went into plastic bins and up into our attic.

I haven't had the heart to open the bins since sadness would grip my heart.

But this year, I started pulling out Mummy's things to use them in my own decorating.

No doubt, it would make her happy to know that once again,  her specially selected treasures are seeing the light of day.

So little purple bun bun and wooden seated bunny girl have joined a huge number of their cousins that we will share with you, little by little, this beautiful Easter season.

DO YOU ENJOY DECORATING FOR EASTER?

It is bittersweet to see the material things that belonged to our dear Mothers. But as you said, they would be pleased to see them used again.

Sometimes as I decorate with much loved baubles, I wonder what will be their fate after I am no longer decorating with them. The thought does cross my mind.....

Nice sunshine today despite the wind. I will be doing some Easter decorating today; am working on my winter "take down" and my Spring "put up". Have been out of town for a couple of days and am fighting a head cold, so the energy is lagging.

Looks like you are enjoying your Easter decorating.

I have a blue wooden bunny just like the one you have Susan. It is out in my living room along with my Easter eggs in baskets. Keep up the good work decorating your home and front yard for Easter.

This was a very touching post Susan, I could feel the emotion you must have felt when you opened these boxes for the first time. I'm glad your mom's decorations are once again bringing cheer during Easter time. :)

Yes, I love decorating for all the holidays, Susan. And I have shelves in our new home that are just perfect for all of my holiday decorations. Your mother's purple bunny is sweet, and I can see she loves purple too. I think she would be happy that you put her treasures out for Easter.
