Just a Thought

Little by little, decorating for Easter is getting done.

Usually by now, the Easter egg bush, full of color and whimsy, is festooning the front yard.

Not this year, though. Snow is still past the knees near the Easter egg bush so it will  have to wait a little longer.

A collection of Ukrainian eggs, all gifts from my dear long-time friend, Patti, has grown by leaps and bounds.

These eggs are precious because they are real!

The designs on them astound with their beauty.

One slip in the hand, however, and they would be history. (Just like Humpty Dumpty who had a great fall.)

So I've decided to keep the Ukrainian eggs behind glass and just go with the wooden ones in a glass dish on the front hall table.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT UKRAINIAN EGGS?

The Ukrainian eggs are just beautiful, Susan. I think it's wise to put them somewhere where they won't break, like you said. I didn't realize they were real, how interesting. These are special Easter decorations for sure.

I have some of those wooden kinds of eggs in a basket and an Asian friend of mine gave me real eggs decorated by her which are gorgeous in another basket. If any "little ones" come over I have to put them up high. I love all the ones your friend gave you..they are beautiful. Hope your bush can begin to get eggs on it very soon.

Wow! The details and time that went into painting those beauties. You have such an assortment of collections. I like that bunny looking to the side in your header. Such a sweet one.

Susan,
Love your Pysanky eggs!!

I have a few that I acquired at a flea market but it was Joe who was taught how to make them when in Catholic grade school. It was a "Russian" church ( Greek Orthodox)!!

Hugs,
Deb

I don't know a lot about them - except they are beautiful and delicate. You have to really wrap them safely when you store them.
