When Down, Look Up

Today my heart is sad.

Besides the dark, drenching rainy weather, the cause of the sadness is that so many of my friends and loved ones are going through hard times right now.

The husband of very dear friend, who just made a major out-of-state move, died suddenly.

Another dear one is experiencing severe health problems.

Still another has financial worries in addition to poor health.

Another has to make huge house repairs and has no financial backing.

And a dear one is struggling with the overwhelming task of  managing the care-taking of an elderly parent with very little family support.

The list goes on and on.

When there are so many  needs that make the heart feel heavy, there's only one remedy.

In addition to prayer, one must simply look up.

The Creator is still the Master of the Universe and somehow, someway, He always makes everything good.

So that's what  I'll do today---look up and leave all the cares, worries, sorrows and preoccupations in His hands.

BESIDES PRAY, WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS ARE HURTING?

I like to send encouragement cards. I love cards anyway. Prayer is the best thing though.

So many of my friends are experiencing pain, also. Knowing someone else cares is important. I have lived long enough to know that things always work out, one way or another, just not always the way we want. Hugs to you for being such a compassionate person.

Sorry to hear you are in this difficult space. I know it well. Linda right, things do usually work out according to plan...just not OUR plan. Hang though; stay strong.

Look up and pray is a great way to help. I send encouraging cards in the mail too.

It is hard to believe, but HE has a reason for everything and some day we will see the truth. I am very sorry for the loss of your friend and all your friends that are hurting. Hugs my friend.

I try to make sure they know they can call on me to help in any way I can. Staying in touch is important.

One day at a time is all we can handle and if we have support and know we are not in it alone, I think that makes the difficult times more bearable and somehow we get through it.

One of my beliefs includes keeping a positive mindset even in the storms. Our thoughts totally affect how we feel. Trying to maintain hopeful thoughts makes all the difference in my world. I also believe it is important to deeply care for those in my life who are struggling, it is also important for me to carry my own burdens, not everybody else's. L

There IS so much sadness and hardship around us. Me? Definitely prayer. Sending cards as one way of letting folks know I think of them. And presence. Just being there when physically possible. No words. Just presence.
