Because of Veterans, We Are Free

Today, Veterans Day in America, we remember the men and women who helped earn our freedom.

It comes with a huge price.

Many brave men and women in the Armed Forces lost their lives to obtain it.

Even today, so many enlisted soldiers' lives are at risk in foreign lands and they don't even know if they will ever come home again.

The 600-plus flags that fly on the town green in a small New England community each November are a testimony to the men and women who sacrifice so much for so many.

Seeing these flags never fails to make my eyes fill with tears.

WHAT DOES FREEDOM MEAN TO YOU?

Thanks for posting this Susan and for the flag you put there for Dad. I think of the men and women who died for our freedom today as well as Memorial Day. Freedom to me is many many things. I'm so grateful to have been born and to be an American. God Bless all our troops and those who have fought for us.

Well my dad was in WW2 and my husband in the Viet Nam war - so they believed enough to fight for our freedom - to make sure we have the freedoms promised to us in the US Constitution which Andy is studying now in his US Government Class.

I can't help but think of the loss of life, especially living near a national cemetery where rows of tombstones look like a million dominoes. My grandson is obsessed with WWll history.
