Acceptance

(This pretty turquoise bottle was a gift from a dear blog friend, Bookie. She writes the blog Claudia's Page.)

Twelve-step programs often state that "acceptance is the answer to all my life's problems."

Well, some things would be very difficult to accept but, generally speaking, it's a good thing to be able to do it.

That way, we are not fighting what is happening or worrying a great deal about situations over which we have no control.

With acceptance also comes patience as we wait for things to get better or prepare to take action to change.

It seems that the older one gets, the easier it is to embrace acceptance.

HOW ARE YOU WITH ACCEPTANCE?

I have a saying that I try to remember to say -

THIS TOO WILL PASS.

I do think the older you get the easier it is to accept things.

I work on this every single day. Some days are better than others. I know the LORD will guide me in all I do.

The older I get, the more I realize what will be will be.

I think I've been rather good at acceptance through the years. There are things that are just going to be, and it is futile to spend time trying to change them.

I just blogged about this yesterday. You'd think by now I'd be a pro at accepting difficult situations, but I'm a slow learner in some things, I suppose. It's my goal this year, though, to accept what I cannot change.

Being a champion "worrier", I struggle with acceptance. I have gotten a little better about it as I've gotten older, since the trials and tribulations of living life for 68 years does give us some hard lessons to learn and accept...

What a beautiful turquoise bottle that your blog friend gave you, Susan. Turquoise is one of my all-time favorite colors. :)
