Get Out of Town....

These dark and dreary winter days make a person yearn for something good to happen.

For me, a day trip is the perfect cure to winter blahs.

It gives a new lease on life.

It's fun to explore new places or revisit old ones.

Over the next few posts, I'm going to share an excursion to Brattleboro, Vermont.

The Kringle Candle Company is near there as well as a host of charming shops, restaurants and so forth.

So, if interested, check in from time to time.

While driving over the Massachusetts border to Vermont, the scenery was striking.

All of the photos in this post were taken from the passenger seat window as the car whizzed down the highway!

Just look at the old, abandoned house at the top of this post.

When spotting a house like that, I cannot help but wonder what happened to cause it to now be empty and lonely.

What was it like in its prime?  Who lived there?

Why hasn't anyone bought it and rehabbed it?

Is it haunted?

Did something scary happen there?

Lots of questions that will never be answered but it's fun to imagine as the car flies by on the highway.

WHERE DID YOU TAKE YOUR LAST  FUN
 DAY TRIP?

I can't remember my last day trip, but I think I need one soon. They do make the long winter feel more festive.

What beautiful views! And yes, such an interesting house! A day trip is a terrific idea. I need one of those.

I have a couple trips planned but they will last more than a day. One to Branson Missouri to see some musical shows and one to New Orleans to partake in the music there. I even plan on coming to see you soon. I love to travel ..just wish I had more money. Love the pictures of winter since I don't have any here. It is raining today which is great!

Susan, your post is perfect timing because today I took a drive to another town. It was so nice just to get away and see something different. I'm glad you are doing the same. It didn't have many charming shops like this one does, just a lot of country roads. I look forward to seeing some of those quaint shops on your post coming up.

love, ~Sheri

Way overdue here for a day trip for some fun! We spent one wonderful night in Brattleboro a few years ago. I want to return! It's no secret in the family that I love vacations in New England!:-)

It's been a while I think it was the Steve Iwin zoo in Brisbane with my son and daughter in law and a visitor from your country, about a year ago or maybe two.

To be honest it has been awhile. I do remember when traveling - thinking of all the people who live in the houses we passed that we will never know!
