Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

Mercy, mercy, the days of February are already speeding by.

There's always so much to do and not enough time in any day to do half of the "to do" list.

I wonder if others experience this.

This has been the weirdest winter on record.

Here in the part of Massachusetts where we live, we've had almost no snow!

Last winter we could barely dig out and got whammed with huge amounts of it.

Is this Mother Nature's way of giving us a break?

It's been quite overcast, though, and everyone here misses the sun.

Day after day of no sun tends to grate on one's psyche.

One solution to the perpetual grayness is to brighten one's space in any way possible.

Around here, it's to add color.

A pretty, colorful chicken and her rooster "lover"  make quite a few rays of sunshine in the kitchen on the table.

These colorful little friends came home with me a couple of years ago.

There are absolutely no regrets over buying them and giving them a new home.

They sure brighten things up!

                                                              The end of the "tale."

WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE YOUR OWN SUNSHINE?

Same thing here, Susan. Our average is 16 inches of snow. So far we are listed at 2 inches and that is from three attempts at snowing here! I think snow is much nicer in January, but I have no say about its showing up in March or April like it might do!!!!

You know usually Georgia has sunshine everyday. When we lived in Chicago it was over cast in the winter too. This year we have been overcast as well.
I love your new header.
I know can you believe how fast time flies?

We have actually had a lot of sunshine this winter. It has definitely been a weird winter though with spells of very warm record breaking temps. I love those days. Only one blizzard so far and it was gone in a couple of days. Spring will be here before we know it. xo Laura

Our weather had been different too. Last week we were having spring-like temperatures and this week we got a big snow storm and now it's -4 degrees outside.

Your little chickens are darling! Hugs to you!

Your chickens are so cheerful, Susan. I love the colors, red and turquoise. They must brighten up your kitchen with all the cloudy days you're having. We've been having some rain, but the sun always peeks through in California every now and then even in the winter. :)

love, ~Sheri

Oh gosh I do not have to make my own sunshine ..hardly ever...Here it is sunny and 70 degrees out..this weekend it will be 75 and starting Monday we will have three days of 80s plus temps and sunshine. I'm so lucky to be able to go to the pool outside even in the winter. Our El Nino has gone north of us so we've had very little cloudy weather or rain.

Fresh flowers definitely brighten up a grey day around here. Also love the red, pink and white colors of Valentine's Day. Just the thing to perk up a dark and dreary February day. I miss not having snow around this winter. Everything looks brighter with a white snow cover to reflect the light!

I love to decorate for all the holidays, so I guess that is a bit of sunshine for me. You love color and I always think of you when I see bright colors. You use it well.
I think of you often. Happy February.

Hello from Spain: In my country the weather is crazy. This winter we have very high temperatures and little rain falls. In my town we are living a time of spring. I love the blue sky and heat. Beautiful and colorful hens. Keep in touch

... Hello Susan... I love your cheery chooks.
The weather has been very strange here in Australia too.....
I like as much 'light' in my home as possible...... I have the lights switched on in the day time.... that helps me feel better when it's dull outside.. that and lots of white and stainless steel to reflect the light.
Have a great weekend... Hugs... Barb xxx
PS... I absolutely love your Rainbow Cross.... crystal is beautiful for rainbows.... xxx

Hi Susan, This winter has also been weird here in Ontario..much like yours..This past WED set a record at very warm temps.. I thrive on sunshine, so try and staying active all the time keeps me from feeling lethargic.
