Gifts of Flowers

Lately, so many posts on Writing Straight from the Heart have been about flowers.

Could it be because I am hopelessly and madly in love with those cherished gifts from Mother Nature?

After an entire winter with just supermarket flowers to cheer me up, at last the earth is abloom with dozens of different kinds of flowers.

They come in every shape, size, color and fragrance and it's just wonderful.

One day recently, I had to visit a friend in the hospital as well as an aunt who is in a nursing home.

Going into the pantry, I found two suitable containers for flowers.

One was a pretty crystal mini-bowl by Avon and the other was a favorite cup.

It had a tiny chip along the lip so could no longer be used for coffee.

Truly, I hated to throw it away because it was so pretty.

Thus, it became a flower container.

I bought two bouquets of carnations and assorted other flowers, cut the stems and divvied them up between the two containers.

Tah dah! They came out nice, were not too big for confined areas and delighted the recipients, too.

Ahhhh, sweet flowers are such treasured gifts from Mother Nature so no wonder one becomes obsessed with them.

DO YOU LIKE TO GIVE FLOWERS AS GIFTS?

Gifts from nature are indeed the best description of all those wonderful blooms. The teacup was a great way to recycle.

Love to give and get flowers. Springtime in New England is indeed an explosion of colors, shapes and sizes of flowers. Just the number of wild flowers alone is amazing. Now that the lilacs have faded the peonies are just about to bloom. Hopefully all this windy weather won't blow all the blossoms away!

Great color combinations in your arrangements. I'm sure the recipients really enjoyed them.

Oh I'm sure that the flowers were a welcome sight to the two people you brought them to. I love to give flowers as gifts too and enjoy receiving them too. Very pretty!

Beautiful flowers, Susan. I like containers that can be re-purposed into another good use, like you did here. Enjoy the weekend ahead!

Your carnations are sweet, Susan. One of my favorite flowers. And I like the crystal mini bowl you put them in. What a great idea.
