Villages in Miniature

Imagine seeing miniature villages complete with lighted houses and street lamps, horse drawn sleighs, windmills and tiny trees, a maple syrup house, tiny bunnies and beavers on a pond!

Small people walk along the snowy pathways.

Truly, in such a village setting, magic is in the air.

It makes one want to shrink to miniature size and join the preparations for Christmas!

That's how it is at one of the displays at Yankee Candle Village in South Deerfield, MA.

There is so much to do and see there, that it would take a full day or more to cover every inch.

But a visit to the village display at Christmas time makes the season brighter.

Hope you enjoy the photos taken during our recent visit there.

HAVE YOU EVER SET UP A MINIATURE VILLAGE? IF NOT, WOULD YOU LIKE TO?

How fun is this! We have a town nearby that awakens the spirit of Christmas in all ages on weekends: reindeer, chestnuts roasting on open fires, quaint shops near the river, restaurants with outdoor patios. Dozens of Santas from around the world, and characters wandering and interacting with the young and young at heart.

I've seen Christmas villages in some home and they are all so pretty. These at the Yankee Candle company are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Oh Susan, I have always wanted a Christmas village! This one is so delightful, and just look at the horse carriage and the carolers and the green vintage car, so cute. Hopefully someday I will have one of my own...sigh. ; )

love, ~Sheri

How beautiful, Susan! I've been to the Yankee Candle a few times and it is such a treat! When my girls were younger they dipped their own candles and we took lots of photos of them in crowns and sitting on the big thrones. Lovely memories. Your photos of the miniature village are just beautiful!!

I have to say that at my house growing up, my Dad was far beyond his time with the Christmas village and no one had anything like what we had. He built a gigantic train on a huge wall/table of plywood that would take up our entire downstairs family room every winter/Christmas season and the village on there was unlike any other.

My favorite little village that I put up year after year though is not the ceramic variety but rather the vintage putz houses that I grew up with in the 1960s (that were from my grandparents collection of the 1940s). Those are what I hold most dear and what I prefer.
