Yummy Pecan Pies

One afternoon, during the holidays, walking into my niece's house,  a delectable smell greeted me.

"What's baking?," I asked. "It smells wonderful in here."

Glancing at the kitchen counter, there was quite a sight for the eyes as well as the palate.

My niece's husband, a fabulous cook and baker, had definitely been doing some baking.

There were 15 pecan pies, some still very warm from the oven.

Pecan pies are among the many mouth-watering treats he makes.

He baked some of the sweet, nutty wonders as gifts for his kids' teachers at school.

They were presented in white boxes with big red bows on top.

Wow! What great Christmas presents they must have made.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE KIND OF PIE?

Oh my goodness! That's a whole lotta pies! My Mammaw in Mississippi had a pecan tree in her front yard. My favorite way to have pecans was from her old freezer drawer. She kept them in bags for us and we would take them out to snack on. The taste was something that I've never had since, no matter what kind of pecans I buy. Last night it dawned on my that I never made pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving or Christmas so I am going to have to remedy that this weekend.

Oh my goodness. I tried to bake two pecan pies this year. We tried one - not so great - and I have the other one frozen scared to eat. What a wonderful gift to give to teachers - I am sure they loved it! sandie

Apple pie with vanilla ice cream is my favorite pie. I am not really supposed to eat too many nuts so never make pecan pie but that is my son's favorite pie. I made it once for him but it stuck to the pie tin. I know I did something wrong. Those pecan pies look scrumptious.

Fifteen Pecan Pies, wow! I really like Pecan pies and didn't have any this Christmas season. I think they are the kind of pie that you either like or don't like. That is a nice gift to make them for all the teachers. My son likes to bake as well, and I'm so grateful when I get to eat his goodies. : )

love, ~Sheri

What gorgeous pies! Pecan is a favorite of one of our daughters; hubby loves apple pie! I love them all, so it's best that I leave them alone.:-) I believe I'd love some good mince pie, though. xo Nellie
